Hi moms (dads too...),
DD's been having trouble with vomiting (pls refer to another woeful post of mine...vomiting's not stopped..:( ) for the last 4-5 nights, and worst thing - her loveys got some puke on them. Yuck, I know.. :(
They're 2 small soft-toys - a puppy and a joey. I've brushed off all dirt, wiped them clean, and brushed them again with light cleansing solution, and wiped them with dry towel, and then blow-dried gently. They're clean on the surface, but I can't get rid of the smell completely! And DD will not sleep without them...
Pls give me some effective but baby-safe tips/ideas to get rid of the puke smell!

PS: How do I confirm if its safe to put them into the washer? Are soft-toys usually washable (in a washer, ie)? If I end up ruining them, DD will get terribly upset...
Yippeee...I just threw the loveys into the washer inside a mesh bag, and they're out! Soft, smelling fresh, and clean. They're a little damp, but just letting them air-dry should do the trick, I think.

Throw them in the washer, they pretty much just small stuffed animals, right? That's the only way to really sanitize them.
Put it in a lingerie net bag. Then put it in the washer. Gentle cycle. Then in the dryer, keeping it in the lingerie net bag.
I do that with my son's loveys. Stuffed animals. Its fine.
You can wash them on the gentle cycle or hand wash and hang dry them outside.
I wash my kids plush toys all the time. Air dry them in the sun!
Put them in a pillow case, tie it off and wash in the washer. You can dry them in the pillow case of air dry them. Most stuffed animal do fine in the washer. We have a lobster that gets washed fairly often in the pillow case and he always makes it through just fine.
U could hand wash them in the sink.
I put my daughter's "guys" in a bag for delicates and wash them with towels.
Without seeing her loveys, I would have to recommend hand washing them and really make sure that you are getting the materials inside clean. It's going to be hot today, so let them drip dry in the sun. They will be dry by bedtime!

can you put them in the washer on a small gentle cycle? Then you could air dry it during the day, and blow dry it tonite if it is still damp. Or if you are worried that they might get ruined, you could maybe put them in one of those washer mesh baggies. Good luck.
I always put stuffed toys in the washer. Just put them in a pillow case or a mesh bag. As long as there are no sound type machines inside them they will be fine.
I put my daughters in with her clothes on the regular cycle and warm water.
If its a stuffed animal I would throw it in the washer. That is the only way I would know how to get it out. Cause it has gotten into the stuffing and you really did not clean it completely if you just surface cleaned. it.
If you are afraid of the washer just soak them in the sink and swirl them clean.
I still have my oldest sons lovey, it's a clown, missing an arm. It's new home is on my spare bedrooms bed.
He always laughs when he visits and sees that I still display it.
Try putting them in a paper sack with baking soda and shake a WHOLE LOT, then toss in the dryer on NO HEAT to help get the baking soda out all the way. It should freshen it up just fine ;)
I wash stuffed animals occasionally. My son has allergies and they tend to collect dust. I wash them on gentle cycle and dry them on low heat. They smell and look so much better once they're clean.
I put stuffed toys in the washer all the time. Unless they're incredibly delicate, you should be fine! :) I also agree with the baking soda idea for ridding them of the smell, but I'd try washing them first.
With have three sets of all loveys in this house, and they are all washable. I recommend ordering some backups.
