Hi, I'm 32 weeks pregnant and just found out I have low amniotic fluid. I want to hear from others who have experienced this. When did you find out? What, if any, complications did it cause? What was the treatement? My Dr. has me on strict bedrest and has me drinking a gallon of water a day. I'm going to be monitored 2x/week.

What can I do next?

M., I had the same issue during my pregnancy. I too was on strict bed rest, drinking lots of water. (be careful on bed rest, that's when I started to gain a lot of weight b/c I wasn't active.) I had to have an er c/s because I too was getting monitored everyweek and one day I thought I NEEDED to be checked and I just wanted it over...I had been on bed rest from 32 weeks to 38 weeks. my dr. appeased me and found there was 1.5 ml of amnionic fluid ( just 2 days ago there was 4.0ml)and send me straight over to the hospital and my daughter was small but healthy.
My friend had the same due date as I did and she found out at 38 weeks that her fluid was low and her dr induced her that day and she was able to have a healthy big boy.

Yes, I've had this with two of my pregnancies. It is very dangerous. Thankfully, in my case I was at the end and was induced and had great outcomes with both pregnancies.

Take your bed rest seriously! Drink you water! If you notice your babies movement slowing, call your Dr immediatly! Be sure to do kick counts to keep track and write them down.

I would also love to share with you what I do from home that allows me to make a paycheck and be with my children! It's more information than I can share in an email, but I would love to share it with you! Just let me know.

Take care of your pregnancy! Call your Dr if the babies movements slow down!

M.,

Your bag of waters can replace itself under most situations, so just drink a lot of water. Sometimes when you get those tests, the timing can just be bad. Drink a lot beforehand. If for some reason it is low, and they want to move to some form of intervention, ask for a few hours and then re-test. In the meantime, drink those fluids.

In the meantime, make sure you have a really healthy diet. Go to BlueRibbonBaby.org and read up. Dr Brewer made it his life's calling to study toxemia and pregnancy, and found that is most related to malnutrition. As a result, he had a zero percent rate of toxemia in his patients.

Eat 80-100 grams of protein a day (including 2 eggs) (this is most important in 8-9 mos as that's when baby has a lot of brain development), drink lots of fluids, use salt to taste (he says you actually need more salt when you are pregnant, so don't think you have to cut down), eat a well balanced diet of fruits, veggies, grains, good fats. Premature rupture of membranes can be linked to poor nutrition.

I'm sure you will do all the right things and be just fine, as will your baby. Don't worry too much. Your body knows what to do. Your job is to get rest (hard wtih two little ones, I'm sure), exercise and eat right!

Hi M.,
This happened to me close to the same time. I walked every day and I am a photographer and shot my last wedding at 8 months preg. I felt good, so I did everything I normally did.

Every visit they told me to drink more water and I was upto 8 bottles, plus 2 pitchers per day. I couldn't drink anymore water because there was no more time left in the day to do so.

I was monitored every other day and finally the nurse asked what I did throughout my day. Once I told her, I was warned with bedrest. I slowed down and took it easy, but on my last visit they suggested inducing becaus I had just drank a bottle of water before the test and it was still low.

Baby and I were both fine.
