Low Progesterone and Charting BBT Questions

My sister is trying to have her first child. She has been diagnosed as having low progesterone and was told that she probably would have a couple miscarriages before having one that would "stick" (for lack of a better term). She was also told she would immediately after finding out she was pregnant, get progesterone cream basically put inside her in the hopes of saving the pregnancy. I would just like to hear some experiences, good and bad, with anyone who has this. Did you conceive and keep the baby? Did you have to have the creams? Anything herbal/natural she can do? She is on progesterone cream that she puts on the outside of her body now. Also, she is charting her BBT and right after her period, it showed a downward spike. She couldn't find anything online about this happening, she said it's supposed to spike upward, never downward. Has that happened to anyone?

What can I do next?

Hi M.,
I had low progesterone issues and took oral, sublingual capsules, custom-made at Habana Pharmacy in Tampa, for the first 13-weeks after finding out I was pregnant. Sweet-potatos can help your sister increase her progesterone levels, and I am doing a home-based business with incredibly nutritious and healthy supplements that help your body run at optimum performance. Also, a plain old regular thermometer works great to watch for ovulation... the little battery-operated ones are great because you can have it right by your bed and put it under your tongue immediately when you wake up... do not get out of bed til it beeps. Your temp may run like 97.4 or 97.5 every day and will jump to maybe 98 or 98.1 on the day you ovulate... make it "fun" and not too much work for you and your husband to make your baby! Less stress on both of you DOES make a big difference! My husband highly recommends a GNC supplement called "For Men Only"... he says it makes the difference in wood and steel... ha! Would love to help your sister get on some of the Total Cellular Nutrition shakes with extra fruit powder and Calcium added, and Omega Supremes. Excellent to use always, and especially while her body grows her baby!! And while you care for two babies!! Take Care M.... Good luck to your sister! God Bless Her, and God Bless You for helping her!
Sincerely,D. Moore ####-###-####

My first question regarding the progesterone is, "does she have a specialist she is seeing or is her regular OB/GYN advising her on what to do?" If she doesn't have a specialist, I would suggest she get one! There is no need to go through the pain of a miscarriage if she doesn't have to. I personally went through IVF to get pregnant. During that process they make you take shots of progesterone as you get closer to the egg transplant. I would think that if her levels are that low, they would prescribe shots rather than the vaginal cream. If she doesn't have a specialist - The Reproductive Medicine Group is GREAT. All of the Drs. are awesome - my favorite is Dr. Yeko. I would certainly advise at least talking to one of them.

Good luck to your friend and I hope that she doesn't have to go through anything bad!

My adult daughter had trouble conceiving due to low progesterone and went through some infertility medications... she was given progesterone orally by her doctor to get pregnant and stayed on it to keep the pregnancy and ultimately carried 2 healthy wonderful babies to full-term. (One at a time! :-) )

As far as the BBT, your temp goes up right before ovulation and drops right before you get your period. I would recommend she get the book, "The art of natural family planning". It will really help her figure out what her body is doing and why.

Tell her to drink chaste tree berry tea daily until she conceives. It naturally raises your progesterone levels. I make and sell it off my website www.wheelsoflight.org. Progesterone cream can also be used sparingly on the flesh of the belly, never heard of putting it inside the vagina though. Good luck to her! I've had miscarriages and I know how sad and frustrating they can be. Relaxing and not putting pressure on yourself to get pregnant also helps. Receive massages, laugh and eat a lot of animal fat and protein.
