I love my doctor at Loyola. Scott Graziano. I actually switched to him about 5 months into my pregancy due to concerns with my previous dr. He is great at working with you on what you want for you pregnancy.
Does anyone have any experience with OB services (prenatal care) and labor and delivery at Loyola? My husband and I are pregnant with our first baby and we're wondering how people like/dislike Loyola's services. Thanks.

Loyola is a great hospital. I delivered at LaGrange, it was great I had a last minute C-sec. Private room, and a great Lacation Consultant which enabled me to nurse my son (still nursing) until he was able to go to milk. Which was my goal. I go to LaGrange womens clinic and I really liked them.
had my first at northwestern and 2nd at edward
but i do love a ped, ped eye, ped ent, ped allergist
all from loyola think they are great
I had my daughter at Loyola in 2008 and had a great experience! Beyond the docs mentioned below there is also Dr Massey, who I loved! I also like the experience of the teaching hospital, but realize it is not the right solution for everyone.
Care was fantastic all the way through my AMA pregnancy. Their nurses are top notch and the NICU is the best in the region. I had my own recovery room, on call lacatation specialist and just an overall pleasant delivery of my first child. If we have a second I will certainly choose Loyola again.
Hello A.,
Loyola has fantastic prenatal and neonatal care! My first son was born via emergency c-section at Loyola back in 2007, as his umbilical cord was wrapped and I did not feel him moving. He had to spend 13 days in the hospital, but the doctors and nurses there rescued him and took phenomenal care of him.
Loyola has twice delivered the worlds' smallest baby and their NICU is top of the line! (delivered by my doctor, Dr. Paula White).
I saw the group of OBs at Oakbrook Terrace, on 22nd St (Drs White and Reddy, and I think they may now have a few more). I also saw Dr. Scott Graziano, who has since moved to a different Loyola location (I think in La Grange.)
My sister has had 2 c-sections at other hospitals and has run into problems with the anesthesiologist both times. (took them several tries to properly administer the spinal block). I had no problem at Loyola.
We would have chosen Loyola again for baby #2, but we chose to go with Edward which is much closer to our home.
The only thing that I did not like about Loyola was the fact that they are so busy that you may end up doing a lot of waiting in the waiting room or examining room. To minimize this, I'd make my appts as early in the day as possible so that you are being seen before the doc has fallen behind.
(Full disclosure, my husband was doing his residency at Loyola during the birth of baby #1, so I may be a bit biased)
Depending on your Dr.s group you may be delivering at Gottlieb on North Ave. I have Karen Deighan...Love her...and I delivered #3 there. It is no spa, but you get taken care of and you get your own room!
A.,
I delivered both of my children at Loyola (May 2006 and Sept 2007) and had great experiences. The biggest downside for us was the non private rooms after delivery but I think this might different with the move to the different hospital building ???
We saw the doctors at their North Riverside office - mainly Dr. Deighan and Dr. Stoffler (I don't think she is there anymore). We actually LOVE Dr. Deighan and I have continued to use her for gyn. appointments. With my first child we were in the hospital awhile so we ended seeing quite a few of the rotating doctors and I liked them all.
If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to email me. I am happy to share about my experience.

We ended up at Loyola when I was 28 weeks pregnant with our son as a result of my water breaking. He was delivered by C section and spent the next 2 months at Loyola NICU. There were lots of complications along the way but I am happy to say he is now 11 and doing great. We also had our daughter at Loyola(another C section) 21 months later. I cannot begin to tell you how competant the Loyola Team is, especially with complicated cases.
Good Luck!
I had my son at Loyola. Even though I had a completely normal, non-high risk pregnancy, we liked the fact that if something did "go wrong", Loyola would be the best option.
However, I did NOT get the spa-like treatment that some of my friends have had at other hospitals. As someone else mentioned, it is a teaching hospital, so you get lots of rounds of visits. A medical student actually delivered my son. I had to share a post-delivery room with another woman, which was not the best situation. And they were so busy that I had to waddle down to the nursery to get my son to nurse him, because they never brought him when I requested. On the other hand, I absolutely loved Drs. Graziano, White and Reddy. I would recommend it, if you don't have high expectations about "Customer Service", because again, it is a top notch hospital.
Hi,
Dr. Deighan delivered my son in early 2008 (my first child)and had a very good experience with the hospital and doctors. I did get a private room but I had a c-section. The nurse did warn me early on that normally on a regualar delivery you wont get a private room. I hope this helps and Congrats.
