I would call the pediatricians office again. If they are bigger and they are not doing anything about it go to another doctor. It is your child and they should take your concerns seriously.
Hello All! Before I call my ped again...i figured I would ask some very knowledgable moms first. Since my toddler was a baby he has had two bumps behind each of his ears, one on each side. Ped said they were his lymph nods & that it was normal. They subsided but were always there. Now with alergy season here, and he does have them bad the lymph nods seem to have gotten bigger. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? He is having quite a time with these alergies & looks horrible to boot. Thanks for any insight.

My son, who is now 10, has the same thing that you described. The doctors told me, too, that it is normal. It does freak me out when I see them but my son is normal, active, and rarely ill. I always bring it up at every well visit...just to make sure. I don't have much more insight except that so far it seems like everything is good. All the best!
Hi there! The fact that the lymph nodes are large, is a good thing. That means they are working to fight infections/allergens etc. You should probably give it a good couple of days before calling your ped. Unless of course there's fever, or any of that other scary stuff out there. Good luck

Although its normal for you to be able to tell that the lymph nodes are there, it isn't normal for there to be swelling. Swelling of the lymph nodes, anywhere on the body, is an indication of infection!
It's very likely that the swelling isn't coming from his allergiea at all, and he may be starting with either a sinus infection or an ear infection. I would have him checked out by your pediatrician as soon as possible!

It is completely normal for your son to have enlarged lymph nodes while fighting any illness. That is how the body works. Some people have them where they are more visible.
I would only get concerned if only one were enlarged for an extended period or if they don't go down in a week or so.
Hi C.,
Read up on the lymph node question at your local health food store and while there get some probiotics for infants and children.
Good luck. D.
P.S. If you can't find what you are looking for, ask the pediatrician to recommend a resource you can find out for yourself information.
