I have never been the best at house keeping but I am trying to embrace it more and more and have been doing a pretty good job here lately. I still have lots of organizing that I want to do...but well we have clean dishes, clothing, floors and bathrooms so all in all things are going well. The thing is my walls are so beyond gross. There are some places where there is crayon etc and I have heard majic eraser works well. Does it also work for like grease splotches and things like spaghetti sauce or koolaid stain that doesn't seem to want to come off? My kitchen and a few places in my hallway are just hideous! We are having my baby shower here in a few weeks and I want my walls in better shape. I do my doors and door knobs with Lysol wipes usually and they work well on walls too, but not on the hard core stains. Short of painting I really want to freshen up the walls. Also I am 29 wks prego with #3 and getting down to scrub baseboards would be pretty hard, any ideas on how to do it without crawling on the floor, thanks!
There is now a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser mop, which might help you with the floor/baseboard problem. and the walls, too, I would suppose!
Goo Gone works really well for crayon on the wall and a few other stains. Magic erasers are really good at getting all types of stains off walls and counters.
I'd marry Mr. Clean if I could. I LOVE the Magic Eraser! If a basic wipedown using a sponge and a cleaning agent doesn't take off the mess, I immediately go for the Magic Eraser...99% of the time it worked. If your walls are in that bad of shape, it may just be easier to repaint...however, being pregnant, I would not necessarily suggest that route unless you have someone doing the painting for you.
Ok SO I am not sure about the magic eraser, but I do have an Idea about cleaning the floors and floor borads without crawling around on hands and knees...A place you shouldnt be my dear. I have been doing the FLYlady prograhm because I am not the best house keeper in the world. Whill her system has been amazing for me it he her shop that I am writing about. Go to flylady.net and have a look around...lots for great stuff that might help. But if what your doing is working for you and your family GREAT!!!!
Head to the flylady shop there on her web site and look at the rubba sweepa. I have read what soem people have use this for. Everything from floor and floorboards to cleaning the tub to dusting the ceeling fans.

YES! Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca! I need to get some more! I just used it yesterday to clean crayon and magic marker off of a plastic school desk that my boys great grandmother picked up for them! I couldn't believe that it came off! So VERY excited to share! :) Also non-toxic so it is safe to use in your home and around kids!
They work really well for most marks on your walls however I took one to a large wall in my house one day and as I kept standing back and looking to see where there were more marks on the wall to be tackled I noticed when I was done that there was a film left all over the wall. I had to take a bucket of warm water and a rag to the entire wall to get off all the 'cleaner' and residue that the eraser left behind

Wear gloves if using magic erasers, they have left chemical burns on children who used them. This was awhile back and they could have changed the way they make them, but better safe than sorry. And they do take paint off the walls. They are much better for tile, and counters, toilet stains that kinda thing.
i went through the nasty-looking wall thing when i stopped working in the winter i tried to clean them but nothing worked so i went to the store and bought three gallons of paint took two days and redid them....im not 100% domesticated but i knew the markers werent ever going away unless i painted
Let me just say Yes it will take care of spaghetti stains on walls and permanent marker on the counter, but it will leave marks on the wall. It will dull the paint and even take it off the wall.
That being said I buy a package for each bathroom, the laundry room the kitchen, the car, and extras just in case. I love the magic eraser.
How old are the other two? Have the oldest do your baseboards. Although they take some rinsing after each swipe.
My daughter uses the Magic Eraser for all sorts of stains. I have not noticed that they dulled the paint or left their own marks on the wall. It is important that the walls have been painted with a washable paint. I've used them for cleaning spaghetti sauce off the stove and cabinets. The eraser did not take off permanent marker.
Another thing that works well is baking soda mixed with water. I use that to take off Kool Aide and juice stains off the counters. I sprinkle on the soda and rub with a damp cloth.
Could you hire an older child or teen to help with the cleaning. When my grandkids were cleaning the walls of crayon their friends loved to help. They were around 9 or 10.
I love the magic eraser but it will leave marks if you scrub to hard I have now paint missing in some spots over time, it works better on gloss paint not matte painted walls.It takes out most stains even the ones that are a few weeks old.Baseboards I just go over them with a semi wet soapy rag,when I don't do that I use the vacuum hose to get all the dust on the top & bottom of them.Keeping house is no fun especially while pregnant but once it gets cleaned & you enjoy that feeling of an uncluttered sticky messy home you'll wnat to stay on top of it & do things daily not to fall behind.
I would jus paint....nothing like a fresh coat of paint!
