Yes, absolutely. You can purchase a styrofoam-lined box, pack the food in Ziploc freezer bags.
Put dry ice in the bottom, then a layer of crumpled newspaper, and then your food on top. It will stay plenty cold for a few days.
has anyone mailed food before ( USPS/FEDEX/UPS)? is that even possible?
Frozen tamales is what would be shipped.
JUST WONDERING..if anything has done this.
Thank you

yes! wrap them very well and pack it all up tight. Do you need my address to mail them to me? :-)
I have not done it , but I know the UPS store has. They use dry ice to keep it frozen.
My parents own a tamale company, and they ship frozen tamales from time to time. Usually they go through a truck company like most food businesses, but occasionally they ship a case or two to family members. Yes, you can ship them through any of the carriers you mentioned. My parents use special boxes for frozen foods. I don't know where you get them though, but I bet you can find out through some internet searching, or contact one of the shipping places.
*ETA - Dry ice is a great idea. I bet my parents use that, too.
Yes, it is possible. Special styrofoam containers can be used with dry ice. The package will be identified as food and dry ice.
Don't ship this without dry ice! And get the experts' advice on how to pack this for proper food safety - that's what they're there for and they do this all the time, so ask the folks at UPS and Fed Ex. I haven't done it but know lots of folks who have and they get it done with the shippers' help. Imagine the temperatures inside some UPS or Fed Ex truck -- even with AC turned on, I cannot imagine even hard-frozen food is going to stay safe enough to eat unless it's somehow kept at a food-safe temperature.
Yes you can ship food. Wrap it in bubble wrap. If it is within two days travel, you don't need dry ice. You just need to have it frozen solid before you ship it. The bubble wrap will act like insulation and it will stay cold.
Good luck to you and yours.
