Makeup That STAYS ON!....Or Tips.....

I have an issue...I have greasy skin and when I put makeup on it looks like I have NONE on after about an hour or 2. Its like my face sucks the makeup off or something. So all the hard work of trying to look nice goes to waste after about an hour. I am getting sick of it because I go to places all happy about the way I look and next time I look in the mirror POOF it looks like I never had makeup to begin with. I dont touch my face or anything and I am not sure if it has to do with the greasy skin. Anyway I need some tips or suggestions on what to use. I do wash my face it just gets greasy fast so its not that I need to wash my face. I need some makeup suggestions or SOMETHING!

What can I do next?

Hi E.,

I love Mary Kay Medium Coverage Foundation. I have oily skin too, and this is the best that I have found. I'll occasionally try something new, but keep going back! It's transfer resistant...I've taken a nap in it and it's still there afterward! Pricewise, it's very comparable to anything you'd buy in the store & a tube will last almost a year for me!

(BTW, I don't sell Mary Kay, so this is completely un-biased!) If you want to try it, you should get with a Mary Kay person so that you can get the best color match...I'm sure you could find one listed under the "local business reviews" above, or just go to the Mary Kay website & locate a rep.

Hey E.,
One of my friends has had good luck with "Sheer Cover" makeup. I like Laura Mercier. I would suggest going to the dept. store and getting a free consultation. The makeup ladies really can give you some great advice. Good luck!

I've use Bare Minerals and now am using Everyday Minerals -- that stuff stays on forever (and it goes on in just a few minutes). I have combination skin and it stays the same on all areas of my face. I've also used those little blotting papers that you can get from the drug store. I'm not sure what they're made of, but they're like tissue paper and they soak up the excess oil.

Revlon Colorstay makeup "with softflex". They have a formula for combination/oily skin. This is the only makeup that stays put on me, and I HAVE to have something stay because I have melasma, and any sun exposure on my face will turn it a dark ash grey. I can wear the Revlon over my natural sunscreen (which is oily) and it works beautifully. You have to work with the makeups that "stay put" because they set really quickly and if you're not right on top of blending, you'll get streaks. Try it first before a shower. The trick is to do small sections at a time. I start with under my nose, and then do my chin/jawline, then one upper cheek, and so on. You've gotta make sure you feather the edges as you go. You get used to it pretty quickly. I do set with powder (a sunscreen powder), but make SURE you give the foundation a few minutes to set on its own first or the powder just soaks in and can get gooey. You shouldn't need much powder with this makeup.

Some women put on make up, and 5 hrs later, its STILL there. And then other women have the same problem as you. I'm in the middle. My make up will stay on but I have to constantly touch up. Its a series of things that causes the makeup to disappera, not just the oil in your skin. My best friend had the exact problem as you where her make up wouldn't even last 2 hours. She decided to get permanent makeup on her eyes and lips. It looks great. She just got eyeliner, lip liner and a shade a little darker than her natural color on her lips. It looks very natural and now she never complains of her make up running off. She now only has to carry mascara and lipgloss with her. Also, her getting ready time in the mornings has been cut half by half. However, if you go this route, its important you go to someone good because I have seen some bad permanent make up jobs out there! I can give you the info of the girl she used if you want. :)

Hi E.! My sister had very oily skin like what you mentioned. She uses Arbonne, we both do! She has had GREAT success. Her makeup now stays on all day! But it begins with using a good, healthy skin care regimen first. The outer skin is a reflection of your skin on the inside. I am a consultant for Arbonne, but used another line for 16 years before Arbonne. Yes, some might say I'm biased, but I do believe it is one of the best lines on the market! It repaired sun damage on my face!! My skin is in better condition now at almost 43 than is was 10 years ago!!

Feel free to email me at ____@____.com and I could explain further. My goal is to educate individuals on taking care of their skin/body so that they can make an educated decision. I do NOT pressure people.
Arbonne's website is www.arbonne.com.
Good Luck!!!

E.,
Go to marykay.com and locate a consultant in your area. She can give you free samples to help you. The product is absolutely wonderful and will definitely work for you. They even have the mineral foundation now too! I personally like the Mary Kay products better than any other I have ever tried. They offer a 100% money back guarantee for every product they sell. You can't lose!
Good luck,

I highly recommend www.everydayminerals.com. Use the matte foundation with a finishing powder to help absorb oil. And I swear by the gentle tea tree facial bar from here: www.momurl.com/handmadesoaps/

yes, I would agree with a consultation....have you tried loose powder? do you wear it over your foundation? you really need to get translucent loose powder (Laura Mercier does have a nice loose powder).
