Marble Counter Tops

I have no idea how to keep my marble counter tops nice. I've just been wiping it with a wet wash cloth and wiping it with a towel afterwards. Also, are there any foods that will damage them? I just kneaded bread on it but it wiped clean enough. Thank you for your help. =)

What can I do next?

You can go online and read about the proper care for marble. Has it been sealed? Or you could go into a countertop/cabinet store and ask them what they recommend for care.

We have granite... and while it is very hard and easy to "use"... it does require cleaning with more than hot water. :) Some of the sprays and cleaner/polishers out there work better than others. You may have to try a few to see which ones you like best. I buy mine at Lowe's or Home Depot.

As for foods to watch out for... just be careful of anything acidic. Tomatoes (or tomato based sauces that might get spilled) immediately come to mind. They won't hurt it just to have it there while slicing, but you need to clean it up properly immediately afterward or it can etch/damage from the acids if it gets left too long (don't let hubby clean up the kitchen, lol).

well, i would seal them. i assumed ours were sealed. now you can see red punch stains. i am going to bleach it with a tide pen and then clean them well. i will then use the marble sealer at lowes by the stoves for 7 bucks.
i was told if you put hot glass on cold marble, the glass will break.

We have granite, not marble. But they are similar. We had ours sealed by the guy that put them in. I'm sure you can get sealer at the hardware store if they are not sealed already. For cleaning, we use the Method Daily Granite & Marble cleaner. We get it at Target. It works well for us and smells nice too. We spray it on and wipe with a microfiber cloth.

We too have marble counter tops and they are just awesome. Being the most beautiful natural stone they add beauty to any place they are installed in.
