Just a few questions for you.... Are you still BF? Did you ever BF? What does your diet consist of?
I think the advise of the prenatal vitamins is good, but some doctors will not prescribe for too long if you are not BF. Mainly because some of the vitamins are at higher dosage than your body requires and could be harmful to you at that dosage.
Lets talk about Multivitamin. You need to be weary of vitamins! First because of the ingredients like Artificial flavor, color and preservatives. Also, you could be wasting your money with the ones you are buying. Most vitamins on the market have a very low absorption rate. Make sure the vitamin is some form of a WHOLE FOOD source. Also make sure that it is not only a Multi, but also has essential minerals and nutrients. Through history it has been shown that our foods (whether Organic or not) simply just do not carry the amount of minerals, nutrients, sugars and vitamins that our body requires to stay healthy. This is why supplements are so essential to our health. There is a study that shows were they found Woman One A Day vitamins in the sewers and you could still read "One A Day" on them.
Now, I also suggest a Probiotic. Here is the scoop on that. This is how I have told my kids about it and what they tell others. Your gut.... is made up of good bacteria and bad bacteria. Probiotics are the good bacteria. Lets call the bacteria... soldiers. So, you have good soldiers and you have bad soldiers. When you take probiotics you are increasing the good soldiers allowing them to fight off the bad soldiers. This in turn helps with your digestion. Better digestion leads to better absorption of minerals, nutrients, vitamins and sugars that our bodies require.
The vitamins that my family and I take make your nails shoot out and the hair grow fast and quick. My little sister was taking Puritans Pride and ranted and raved about the vitamins to me for a long time, but I felt they were rather expensive, so I stuck with the Multi Vitamin/Mineral supplement that I was taking. January she had to under go massive reconstructive surgery on her knee, so she came to me asking for some natural advise for before and after the surgery. Because she was going to begin to purchase some of the products I knew about, she decided to buy the Multi Vitamin/Mineral supplement I was currently taking. First because I told her I would only charge her my price, second because it was cheaper than what she was buying ($40 for a one month supply) and last because it also contained minerals, essential sugars and other ingredients her's did not. She called me in Feb and placed another order and we talked about how impressed she was with the way her nails and hair was "growing like a fast weed".
Anyway, I hope this has helped you. Please let us know what solution you tried and how things went! Please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns, advise you may need further! Good Luck
