Meal & Snack Ideas for My 14 Month Old Daughter?

She has plenty of teeth, so she can chew. she usually eats what my husband and I eat, like spaghtetti, or chicken, etc. But i honestly have a bad eating habit. I like to just eat pizza rolls or hot pockets, sometimes just snack on things like chips for lunch. She cant have these. I'm not into cooking a big meal for lunch. So i open a can of veggies for her, or make a box of macaroni and cheese. she really like the gerber graduates meals, but they are pretty pricey for what you get. I really need some quick ideas that are healthy for her for meals and snacks when she can't have what i'm having. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

What about spending an afternoon preparing a bunch of fresh veggies and chicken and beef, pasta with tomato/meat sauce, etc and then freezing a bunch of toddler sized portions so that all you have to do when she is ready for them is defrost, heat and serve.
Good Luck

Fruit, veggies with dip, yogurt, cheese, crackers, toast with peanut butter (if there's no allergy). My girls love banana muffins (I use whole wheat bread, apple sauce instead of butter, less sugar than called for but I add choco chips), cheese toast (which is just cheese on bread in the toaster oven till melty), macaroni and parm, macaroni and mushroom soup (cook separately and combine), cheese sandwiches, homemade chicken fingers (I bread sliced chicken breasts with a combo of bread crumbs, parm, a little garlic powder, a little salt and pepper then fry them up), or I throw a can of tuna into the pot of mac and cheese.

A 'meal' doesn't have to be elaborate to be healthy. Just pick a whole grain, a protein source (dairy and/or meat) and a veggie or fruit or two.

And who knows, you might start wanting what she has too :o)

I am exactly the same as you! I eat "buffet style" on little things, and rarely cook. Those Gerber meals saved the day for me, but they're limited in offerings and pricey.

I started buying Lean Cuisines for DS, for variety. (although that doens't really solve the price problem) So on top of that, cook up a whole box of pasta and throw it in the fridge. It'll feed her for a week, and you can doctor it up for variety - parmesean cheese, just butter, pasta sauce...basically anything you want to put on it!
I'd buy cans of veggies to pair with the pasta, and I'd get 2-3 days out of 1 can. Same with fruit mixes (the Del Monte ones). Then you don't have to worry so much about keeping fresh fruit around - which tends to go bad before you can go through it all.

I'd also make scrambled eggs for dinner, hot dogs, grilled cheese (you can "nuke" it!), PB&J...

Both my girls like beans - black beans, pinto beans, black-eyed peas, whatever! These are full of protein and fiber. Sometimes I microwave them for a bit, but they'll eat them straight from the can, too.

My fall-back meal is pasta with parmesean cheese, though. I get whole wheat pasta or the "wacky mac" made from vegetables and then just sprinkle with the cheese. They'll eat it up.

Lots of good ideas! One of my favorites is the steamables brown rice (4 min in the microwave) with either steamables veggies or a little melted parmasean cheese. Fruit salad (grapes, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, banana slices, orange slices- all quartered in advance and just spooned out of the bowl as needed) goes over well. When I am in a hurry, I just heat up the pre-cooked grilled chicken by tyson (green bag) and cut it up. I also do lots of Nutra Grain bars for snacks. Chunks of slightly overripe avacado is good too. Scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms is one of my 11 month old's favorites! Super easy and cheap (of course, who knows for how long since the price of eggs keeps skyrocketing!!!).

Oh, and just so your not alone, the dreaded mac and cheese is a staple in my three boys under seven house!

I get the packages of mixed frozen veggies and cook a handful in the microwave for my daughter. She loves picking up those little pieces of corn, peas and carrots, and its cheap because 1)the bag is $1, and 2)I just cook a handful at a time.
I also give her torn up pieces of lunch meat, fish sticks, chicken strips (you can make your won fish and chicken strips and freeze them if you are worried about additives), other frozen veggies, bread with jelly, mandarin oranges (get the big jar and keep it in the fridge), whole wheat pasta with parm cheese, shoestring beets, avacodo lentils, cheerios, cheese, berries, and other cut up fruit.
She gets a little of this and a little of that because I want her to try a wide variety of different things. I try to make sure she eats lots of veggies, fruits, and grains.
Another thing that I do - each weekend I make a big quantity of something (beef stew, spaghetti sauce, shepherds pie, chili, etc) and portion it out and freeze it for us to eat later on. I prefer to eat things that are not prepackaged but am too tired after work most days to cook dinner.
Good luck!

You have lots of good recommendations so far! At that age my daugher loved lunch meat...any kind, any way, she would gobble it up. My son (16 mos) isn't so into it, but they both love crackers (Ritz) with cream cheese or hummus on them, as well as bagels. I would recommend doing frozen veggies as others have suggested. Canned veggies aren't as healthy and frozen is so, so easy! I would steam the whole bag and then freeze it in a ziplock and just defrost a handful for every meal. It only takes like 30 seconds or less in the microwave. You can also do cheese, blueberries are always a hit around here, cottage cheese, grilled cheese, cut up chicken (you can steam that in the microwave too), yogurt, applesauce, PB&J-my son LOVES his PB&J.

My son is also really into mini muffins right now. He loves them! You can make your own from a box mix or scratch. Scratch is super easy and it really doesn't take much more time at all, probably 10 minutes more than a box, and it's worth it!

The have really good organic Bunny os and Raviolis at a store we go to my kids love them and they are not full of preservitives and salt. 1 can feeds both of my kids if I give them a fruit or veggie with them. They come in a can so they are easy and they are usually put on sale for about half price every other month or so then we stock up. Cut up melons and other fruit and put it in the fridge in tupper ware so it is easy to just pull out a little. My kids also like Anns organic waffles they also go on sale about every other month so then we stalk up. Tyson chicken nuggets are not all full of preservatives and junk and all kids like chicken nuggets. I just make sure they get a fruit or veggie hopefully both with whatever I give them. other easy things are cook up some fun shaped noodles and put them in some tupperware make sure you coat them with a tiny olive oil or they will stick together(olive oil is heart healthy too). Pull out a little at a time add a veggie (broccoli is my kids fav) and a tiny butter and parmasan cheese. Yougart, wholewheat english muffin and a scrambled egg. Quesadilla on a wholewheat tortilla with a fruit or veggie. Instant oatmeal (we like mom's brand because it does not have so many preservatives). I know we eat a lot of breakfast foods but, my kids like them. Leftover rice and a little veggie, meat, and cheese mixed together (my kids like this)

I made a big pot of vegetable soup and froze it in single serving zip lock bags. These defrost in about 5 minutes over stove or in micro (remove from bag first). I feel great that he gets a lot of veggies from that meal.

I also bought single serve corn steaming packets. He doesn't eat the whole thing but it can last for several meals and I keep it in the fridge.

Applesauce, fresh fruit and baby yogurt are our favorite snacks.
