Hi, Moms!! I'm just trying to get an idea of what you all feed your toddlers for meals and snacks. What do you offer? And kind of more what I'd like to know, what do they actually eat? I'm just trying to get a feel for how much food I should be expecting my son to eat at this age. (and what types of food) Thanks!!!!

My 16 month old son eats whatever we eat (with the exception of a few things). Some days he eats a ton (I feed him whenever he's hungry and other days not so much.

Example from yesterday

1/2cup oatmeal for breakfast
carrots, havarti cheese, crackers for snack
turkey sandwich for lunch
banana for snack
beef vegetable and rice soup with a slice of bread

Today
Yogurt and mango
toast
hamburger and apple
blueberries and laughing cow cheese
carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes in balsamic vinagarette....there was more food but that was all he chose to eat for dinner

He loves fruit and would eat that all day if I let him. Likes most veggies most of the time. Loves yogurt...that's why I started making my own. Likes mashed potatoes. Likes bread...just made my first homemade batch the other day. Not so crazy about meat. Some days he will eat it and other days he won't. Likes pinto beans. Loves peanut butter. Loves soups...especially tomato (must think it's ketchup).

The thing I have started doing is shopping for lots of fruits and veggies. Then I just pick up some meats like chicken breast, ground beef and pork. I make stuff from there. It is simple and good for you. I offer the fruits and veggies all day long with their meals and snacks....sometimes I wait to give thhe fruit during a meal because I want other stuff eaten. Every once in a while they get juice or chocolate milk but rarely with a meal...usually as a snack.

hope some of that gives you some idea...since I have 2 kids and don't have the energy to cook everyone a separate meal then they eat the same thing I do. It makes me eat a lot healthier for one thing (however I really miss all my spicy foods)

Hi! I've been in the same boat! My 18 month old DD absolutely loves avocados, pasta with tomato sauce, sliced turkey, blueberry bagels, and cheese. She doesn't eat meals per se, she has about 4 or 5 mini meals a day. She is still breastfed, but eats solids regularly. The rule of thumb that I go by is that toddlers usually eat about 1/4 of an adult serving. So if it looks like he's eating like a little bird, it's probably okay as long as he eats a couple of times a day and gets the nutrients he needs! Hope that helps a little bit!!

My son is 16-months-old and loves to eat...lol! I don't know where to start.

For breakfast, he usually eats, toast (plain or sliced cheese/cream cheese), turkey sausage link, yogurt/baby cereal. For some reason, he is not crazy about real fruit, so I still buy the baby food stuff. So for snack times, it's usually any fruit (banana, peaches, apple-vanilla mixed grain, etc.) and maybe some crackers like goldfish/animal or Annie's brand makes a gold "bunny". Lunch, maybe home-made chicken noodle soup and he inhales it, chicken pot pie, bean burrito, loves guacomole & rice, chicken nuggets and mashed potatos, Green beans, aspragus, squash with onions. Loves beans-baked, pinto, black, black-eyed peas. Dinner, anything we're having; spaghetti, lasagna, any type of casserole, likes roast with all the veggies, hamburgers ( i've never tried hot dogs with him, hear they are a big time choking hazard), pizza with everything on it (eats toppings first and then the crust).

I've been blessed with a well-rounded little eater. I just try to offer him everything I can. I do think he could live on yogurt though. Yo-Baby makes 4 oz individually flavored ones (vanilla, blueberry, banana, apple, etc) and a 6oz with fruit and veggies in it.

Happy eating! All the best!

Hi! My name is L., my son Lucas will be 2 next month, so 15 months wasn't so long ago... Anyway, your child should be able to eat cheerios for snacks, soft crackers, yogurts, things like that. At 15 mos. he was still on cereal mixed with baby food, but transitioning into regular food. Whatever it is, just break it up into small pieces and make sure it's soft enough to chew for your child-you'll figure out what he likes and doesn't like!
