Medications for the Treatment of Lupus

Hello!
I tried methotrexate for about a month and I got too many side affects to continue. I threw up the first week, have an upper respiratory infection, horrible headaches, and worst of all a terrible outbreak of hives on my legs. I am wondering what other meds people have tried that have worked well without the crazy side affects! I appreciate those of you offering natural remedies, however, I am already looking into that, and I am going to take pharmaceuticals regardless to save my kindeys!
Thanks everyone!

Having fibromyalgia, IBS, and other auto-immune disorders myself akin to lupus, I will tell you that each and every case is individual, what works for some will not for others, some will have side effects, some won't, it's trial and error. Inform yourself so you can effectively communicate with your doctors about your options. Here are some sites to help you familiarize yourself with and understand various medications, their uses and side effects:

I have auto immune issues and am in the process of trying to get my insurance to authorize Rituxan. I don't know if it's been tested for Lupus but it is considered effective for other diseases and said to be well-tolerated.

Plaquenil is often used to treat lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. I was misdiagnosed as having RA a few years ago. I took Plaquenil and did not have any side effects.

Can't recommend any other meds. Congratulations on looking into natural/alternative methods. I took MTX for 6 months. For alleged MS. Didn't do squat. I quit cold turkey. Did the same with that 'wonder drug' steroid medics rave about. MTX is a chemo therapy drug.

This is just too good not to share, for anyone with any Automune disease (which you may or may not know that Lupus is-some docs don't mention it):

I know you were looking for Rx advise, but this is even better :)
