Medications for the Treatment of Lupus

Having fibromyalgia, IBS, and other auto-immune disorders myself akin to lupus, I will tell you that each and every case is individual, what works for some will not for others, some will have side effects, some won't, it's trial and error. Inform yourself so you can effectively communicate with your doctors about your options. I have auto immune issues and am in the process of trying to get my insurance to authorize Rituxan. I don't know if it's been tested for Lupus but it is considered effective for other diseases and said to be well-tolerated.

Plaquenil is often used to treat lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. I was misdiagnosed as having RA a few years ago. I took Plaquenil and did not have any side effects.

Can't recommend any other meds. Congratulations on looking into natural/alternative methods. I took MTX for 6 months. For alleged MS. Didn't do squat. I quit cold turkey. Did the same with that 'wonder drug' steroid medics rave about. MTX is a chemo therapy drug.
