ProActiv worked very well for me. I use to get big sytic acne, since I've been using Pro Active it has cleared up my problem in a dramatic way. Best of luck. K.
I have been having an awful time with acne. When I was in high school my face was as clean as a babies bottom, now I have breakouts everyday and it is really becoming a problem not to mention I can't stand the way I look. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
Thank you to everyone who responded with your advice. I am trying some new things and I'll let you know how it works out.

Hi J.! Try Rodan and Field's "Proactive" acne series, worked WONDERS for me! It is just a cleanser, toner (which I never used) and lotion. I can't remember the website right now, but google it and you can order it.
Hope this helps

J.,
I had the same thing happen to me when I turned 36. I started using a sample of Mary Kay cleaner and moisturize, in a week I was sold because all the acne cleared up and my skin is back to normal. I have to be honest I was so happy to be back to my old self I became a consultant:)
Anyway Mary Kay is my suggestion but I would say if you can get samples of any product you are interested, take it. You have to fine what will work for you and I know you will.
I have had luck using Reflex on myself, my oils but I think the stuff I found at Lush is pretty good too. All of it is pricey, but like what I use: it's all organic!
Check it out at Somerset. My son was not too thrilled as it is overwhelming in scent, so if you are sensitive to scents too as I am, be prepared! ;)
Hi J.,
I am a representative for Sensaria Natural Bodycare. One of my coworkers had a hysterectomy and developed extremely oily skin & acne. She has since gone on Sensaria's skincare regimen for oily skin and panics when she starts getting low. She ran out of the cleanser once and began breaking out terribly. The products are naturally based and affordable. Please let me know if I can help you with anything.
Hi J.!
I started getting acne when I turned 30! I changed my makeup to all natural with no harsh chemicals and changed my face cleansers so they are also all natural without any harsh chemicals. Now I get an occasional pimple but no where near as bad!
If you would like to know more about the products I use please let me know I would be happy to share it with you
Hi J.
I'm in my thirtys and I was very over weight and my hormones was defintely a major problem with Acne. I tried everything. I didnt need to be on my menstral to have acne, it was all the time in the same areas over and over and they wouldnt leave. Finally, I went to my doctor and she put me on some acne medicine twice a day. It worked.
I thought you had to go to a dermatologist but I didnt. I also lost 23 pounds and that also made a huge difference in my body.

Hi Janyne,
I would strongly suggest that you look into the Clarity line of facial care products on my website at www.warmspirit.org/rochellemorton. Our products are all-natural and there is a 30-day money back guarantee. The Clarity Blemish Cleansing Gel is formulated specifically for acne and blemish-prone skin and helps to restore balance to your skin. Sometimes, the drugstore cleansers contain harsh chemicals and extra preservatives and fragrances that cause more irritation rather than addressing our issues. I have a customer that is in her 40's who uses this product every day and night and swears by it. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I get cystic acne before my periods My dermatologist prescribed a B6 50mg vitamin 10 days before my period is suppose to start Take one a day until your period begins I never know when mine is going to start so I take one everyday with dinner Has worked very well
think about what you ate then, think about what you eat now. For me, it doesn't take much chocolate for me to get zits. I'm at midlife too, and dealing with menopause a little differently.
Adjust what you eat, is what I would say. Try and keep watch what you've eaten just before a break out and try and narrow down the culprit. Then quit eating that 'trigger'.
You might want to consider finding a clinic that offers infra-red saunas so that you can detox. I can recommend two right off, depending where you live. But getting some of these toxins out of you would probably help considerably. I wouldn't--PERSONLLY, mind you--start taking hormones to counteract the menopause.
I'm an alternative therapy kind of person; herbs, supplements, vitamins, etc. So I will not suggest un natural measures at all. If you want to solve a problem you have to get to the root of it, treat it from the inside out as opposed to putting more stuff IN that might not be at all good for you.
Good luck.
As we get older our body changes. I would suggest you take a look at what you are eating! Diary products are a big culprit. Try doing a food diary for a couple of weeks and then pay attention to when your acne seems to get worse.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I'm wondering what your skin care routine is.... Sometimes just changing it may help. I'm a Mary Kay Consultant and MK has a lot of great products you might want to give a try. Maybe you just need to change the type you are using, such as not using for dry skin but more for acne prone skin. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Hi J., I have been using estroven, it's a herbal supplement that has been helping with my night sweats and other perimenopausal issues. It is an over the counter supplement available at most anywhere and you can get a coupon at their website.
Hi, my acne started when I was in my early 30s and was really bad after I had my son. I recently started drinking organic milk instead of regular milk and after a couple of months the acne has virtually disappeared. I still have a bit of a breakout during my period, but nothing like it was before. I also drink skim milk only. I think it was the hormones in the regular milk.
Good luck.
No one has mentioned the possibility of Poly-cycstic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) -- it is often the cause of weight gain, skin problems and other hormone issues in women over 35.
Google it and see if you have any of the other symptoms.

Sure it's acne and not rosasea. If it is rosasea you can get medication ... or eliminate caffeen from you diet. If your cheeks are really rosy with little bumps it's probably roseasa and not uncommong for you age.
ProActiv, ProActiv, ProActive! It works and it is easy and it is relatively cheap...look online.
Hi J.!
My name is M. and I am an Independent Mary Kay Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. We have dealt with issues like your in the past and have had a lot of success using our Classic Skin Care line. Are you breakouts mostly forehead and cheek area or other area? I would love to send you some samples to see if you love the results as much as my other clients did. If you are not in the Grand Rapids, MI area I can mail them also.
Please let me know ... I know you will be delighted!
Go see a good dermatologist. It may not be acne. You may have developed an allergy or something else may be going on. The dr can tell you what is causing the breakouts and exactly how to treat it. If you are trying to treat it as acne and its not you will only make it worse. I know how fustrating this can be since I had perfect skin when I was young and now have to deal with a butterfly rash from my lupus. Sometimes it is horrible how people can treat you just because your face is broken out. Hang in there and go see the dr. Dermatologists realy can help.
I'm 34 and have always had breakout kind of acne...nothign severe but there was almost always multiple blemishes on my face...
I'm not sure if it will help you, but I started using Bare Essentuals makeup...ya know the swirl tap and buff from the infomericials?...and on emonth later my face is COMPLETELY clear. I don't even wash my face every night. I cannot believe that it was my makeup causing all that...and I used higher end makeups like Clarins, Mary kay, and sometimes loreal. My face cleaners when I used them were almost always more expensive lines. Nothing worked.
But this is amazing...you'd think I work for the company the way I sound but it's true!

I started getting monthly break outs after I had my baby. She's now 5 (today), and I still get them. I use tee tree oil on the effected areas and it helps a lot. I also took it as a sign my body needs to detox. Drink more water, eat a lot more veggies, more of them raw. I switched from coffee to tea, and felt better from that alone. I've also discovered I'm sensitive to wheat. I've been eating so healthy, I can now tell what foods my body shouldn't have.
Lightly steam your face over a sink of hot water, toss in a fruity tea for fun. A towel over your head holds the steam in, to open your pores more. Then wash w/ face soap, apply tee tree oil, and moisturizer. Like twice a week, 1 wasn't enough for me.
I'm trying a new natural face wash from melaluka tonight. And I'm just trying to do my idea of spa food. This is the salad I'm making for the birthday party.

Mostly Raw Pad Thai
1/2 a head Red Cabbage in the thinnest strips (you can blanch it if you really need to, but ice bath right away to stop the cooking process)
3-6 julienned sweet peppers red, yellow, orange (eat the rainbow and all)
1/2 -1 julienned red onion (red has more magnesium that white I've heard)
sprouted lentils, and mung beans
Noodles
Peel a few carrots, and some dikon w/ a potato peeler, or mandolin on thin. You could also just shreded them for a finer textured salad and blend it all together.
Dressing
1 c peanut butter
juice of 1 lemon, or lime
hot pepper powder, or chili flakes
dash of soy sauce, like brags amino acids
maybe some palmagranit molasses, minced ginger, garlic, sesame seeds or oil, water to thin
Mix at room temp, whipping till combined. Fold the dressing into the cabbage pepper mix. Squeeze a bit of lime juice on the "noodles" and let the flavors combine.
put them in glass bowl w/ water tight lids, turn upside down, turn them right side up before serving. Heap the cabbage/peppers salad over the carrot, dikon noodles.

Hi J.-
I went through the same thing. It got worse around my period time but never completely cleared up the rest of the month. I discovered some Avon products that used in combination with each other really helped me, that's when I decided to become and Avon Rep.
Contact me and we'll see if my combination works for you.
Tea tree oil. It's a miracle cure. You can find it at any health store or at wal-mart for 1/3 of the price. It comes in a little 1-2 oz. jar. I dab it on with a cotton swab. It doesn't take much at all. Also, the Proactiv products really work. I empathize with you.
Hi there. You did not say whether yuor menopausal state was complete or not but I had a medical meopause which throws your body right into to completed menopause( no periods at all) however the nerve ending don't know that so for a time you have the monthly cramps, which is not as severe as actually being on a period. It reminds me of the stories you hear when someone looses an arm it still itches kind of idea. Anyway, before you go to bed at night wash your face with a mild cleanser, dove or oil of olay(for example) or just with water. Then in the morning do the same. One thing we do that we should not is popping or scrathing or picking at our face. I have learned that when we do this the oil from our hands rest on our face gradually going in the pores and that is what causes the acne. I know when my teens pick at their face I let them know they should not do that and why, it is the same with us meopasal ladies. Try very hard not to touch your face throughout the day for a while you will see a marked difference. Proactive is proably very good.I am sure. I am not meaning to dis( as my teen would say) any product, but less is more when it comes to the face. If by chance you wear a foundation or make up of any kind you should cleanse your face before going to bed. make sure that the make up remover that you use is not alcohol based and has moisturized in it. nothing like dry skin on top and oily underneath( not a good combo either. Good luck
