Hello mamas,
I am so excited I bought tickets to mickey's halloween party for Halloween night. I am actually writing because I am a little worried that since I am going on Oct 31st it will be too crowded and I will spend my whole night waiting in long lines. So I guess my question(s) are, has anyone been there on halloween night? How early can we get in and how bad was the crowd? Any tips as to where to go first or best place to watch the parade and fireworks? I heard its the best parade Disney has so I'm really looking forward to it. Also, the website says to dress up, any ideas for costumes?? Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the great advice!! So I went on Halloween night and had a blast! my daughter loved it...she was so excited! It was pretty crowded but it wasn't that bad. we didn't wait long to get on the rides. The only line that was really long was to go to the haunted mansion but even then it only took about 10 minutes. What was really bad was right after the fireworks when everybody was trying to get a good spot for the parade...it was a little crazy. The only downside was that I actually bought a costume thinking it was going to be at least a little cool at night but no luck, it was extremely hot so I didn't get to wear it. Thanks again!

It's a great event. And don't be overly worried about the crowds - they only sell a limited amount of tickets for these events. (I used to work there - LOVED IT) Bring a big stash bag!)

Hi B.,

You should be excited..you are going to have fun. We went last year and even though we got there late we still had a great time.

I dont think you have to worry about it being to crowded because they only sell so many tickets per day.

There might be lines but they move very quick because they have many cast members handing out candy at each location.

I would get there when it starts so you wont feel rushed to get candy and see the parade. You will get a map of all the locations you can get candy; and be prepared to get alot of candy... good candy.(REALLY) you and your husband can get candy too.

And i would dress your daughter in whatever she likes. She will have a great time and all the characters are in costume so it is really cool!!!

Hope I was able to help...let me know if you have any other question.
and I hope you guys have a magical time!

Good Morning, B.! You are going to love Disney's Halloween Party. We've been a few times, but never on Halloween. I can tell you that the crowds that come back for the party are lighter than they are during the day. If you visit www.touringplans.com they have a crowd calendar that rates how bad the crowds will be in each park.
A great place to watch fireworks would be from the benches in front of the Dumbo ride. There seems to be more space there than on Main Street, and the fireworks seem closer. We usually watch the parade near the Hall of Presidents.
As far as costumes go, dress your daughter in something comfortable. One year we found a Disney princess nightgown that looked like a dress for my daughter. It was a perfect costume, because by the time we got back to the room she was sound asleep. Have a blast!

I can't wait for my daughter to be a little older so we can do this event!! I have never heard a negative thing about it.
Living in Orlando I just have one suggestion for costumes. Make sure that it is something that can be worn in cold or hot weather. The past two years we have been in the 80s for halloween but the year before on Halloween night it was 40 degrees! Make sure that whatever you choose can have a turtleneck and pants added underneath in should the need arise.

Have fun!!

I can't help you with costumes ideas (I am not creative!) but just be comfortable, at least if you plan on going on rides. I went several years ago, and I think it was Halloween night, but it doesn't matter. They sell a limited number of tickets (and I think they sell out most nights), so the lines are relatively short and move quickly. It's actually an ideal time to go on rides and things, because you don't have the waits you do during the day. Have fun!

I take me kids to this every year, but have never been on Halloween night. You can get into the park at 4pm. It will still have guest's from that day there until 7, so they will put a bracelet on you when you get in the park. Then you can do rides, shop, or eat until 7. Its normally still pretty busy between 4-6 with people in line for rides, but as soon as its 7, everything is so quick to get on. Its really the best way to do disney.
Also, depending on the ages of your kids, I would see the first parade (if they are younger) and if you have older kids, see the 2nd parade, its less crowded. Its definately a great parade that my kids don't ever want to miss. I would also start looking for a spot about 30-40 minutes before it starts, as it will be crowded and hard to find a spot.
One more tip, I have seen entire family's dressed up. Its very cute. You really don't have to, but I would dress your daughter up, but keep in mind, its hot and humid. So something light, tinkerbell or minnie mouse dress, but it doesn't have to be disney themed.
Have fun.

Oh you are going to have a BLAST! We went 2 years ago, the night before Halloween - because it was a little cheaper. I made costumes for all three of us, per my daughter's request, she was Cinderella, her daddy was Prince Charming because he has black hair and black shoes, and I was the Fairy Godmother. We had alot of fun, and my daughter has always been a night owl staying up and out late wasn't a problem for us. We saw lots of people in costume and lots out of costume, and the ones in costume were not all Disney themed. We were Disney themed because my daughter was 3 at the time and she is all about Disney and the princesses and it was her idea. (last year she was Ariel, Daddy-O was King Tritan and I was Athena (Ariel's mother - again all her idea) The crowds were not bad, but the night that we went, it started raining when we put our feet on the ground outside the car, and didn't stop until long after we were home. We still managed to have fun though, and would totally do it again! We had already had dinner on our way there, but I would pack some snacks - peanut butter crackers or something so you can resist eating your weight in candy - because there is lots!!!! Good luck, and have fun!

Hi B., My husband, our 5 yr old son and I have been going to Mickey not so scarry Halloween for the last 3-4 years. We go either before or after the 31st. And YES the 31st will be crowded. Especially if it is a weekend. If you have passes, you can go before the 7pm (I think it is 7) party time. It's a lot of fun though. We all get dressed up. One year we went as the Incredibles, last year we were the Batman family and I think this year we are going to be Pirate's. You can get your picture taken at the entrance to toon town. If you have a favorite ride go there first to get a fast pass. Kids will be given trick or treat bags as you enter and a map of where candy will be given out. It's a hoot. The fireworks and the parade are great. Have a great time ... maybe we'll see you there ... but not on Halloween night :-) L.
