Its suggested that you wait until they are 1 year of age before you switch them over to whole milk. Before 1 year it should be breastmilk or formula. Why are you looking to switch him if he is taking the formula well? If you are making the switch I would at least mix the formula with milk instead of a whole bottle of milk
Good Luck

I wouldn't. Formula has a lot more good stuff for brain development etc. In fact I have heard a new push for kids to have formula to 18 months just like babies who nurse get breast milk.

My ped told me to work it in slowly starting at 10 months.
It's a hard situation. Everybody knows you should wait until one years old, but our mothers started us on milk the day we got home from the hospital. Listen to your doctor and do what they think is best. I agreed with my ped and starting both my boys slowly right before they turned one. No problems at all. Good luck.

Probably not the best idea since your baby's digestive system may still be too immature to handle and digest regular milk right now. Speak with your pediatrician and see what they recommend for your child, but as a rule "they" usually say to wait until 1 year of age.

There is a reason that it's recommended to wait until 1 year to give milk. Their body may not be mature enough to adequately digest milk as well as needing the extra nutrition provided by formula. One possible result of giving a baby milk/food before their system can handle it is the development of allergies. That's why we don't give toddlers nuts.

I would ask my pediatrician before I ventured from the usual recommendation.

I'd start out in small doses just in case he/she can't digest it very well yet. Just keep in mind it isnt as vitamin fortified as the formula is.

WHY?

It's recommended to wait until they're a year old, but it's been known to happen.

I think most peds recommend that kids be at least one year of age before they get milk instead of formula.

My daughter was extremely colicky from 3 months to 9 months. At 9 months my ped reccomended I try her on regular milk (we went with 2 % because she was already a chunky baby, and didn't need the extra fat). The first night I gave her milk was the most peaceful night I had since she was born! No more colic!!!! I would check with your ped, but I don't see a problem with it.

Perhaps ask your ped. before you do anything. I believe they prefer you to wait until 12 months. And at 12 months our ped. said 2% was just fine.

Also, if you want to transition slowly, you can also do half n half for a little while. So that baby doesn't notice the change as much—in case the baby doesn't like the drastic change in taste.
