Have the carpets cleaned then if you can leave the vehicle parked in the sun with the doors open for as long as you can. If the carpet is cleaned good this should do the trick
Happy New Year ladies!!
So my daughter spilled chocolate milk in the back seat of my car. She told me that she only spilled a little (it was Nestle Quick - so real milk) but it ends up that she spilled a lot. It was under her booster seat and on the carpet under the seat (seats are leather). It happened a week ago and I guess because it's cold, it just started to smell. And boy does it stink! Makes you want to gag!
So my hubby did his best to clean it up and he sprinkled Arm and Hammer carpet freshener on the carpet. But it still smells.
Any advice on how to proceed??
Thanks!!

Simple Solution can be used on milk. It is an enzyme cleaner so it clean all organic matter and it is safe to use around children and animals. Make sure you use enough to get deep down into the cushions though.
I use it when my daughter spills milk on our sofa and there has never been that spoiled milk smell. I also use it in the laundry when her diaper leaks. It can be purchased at Pet Smart.
Nature's Miracle, Anti-Icky-Poo, or another Pet Enzyme Product. It works, I used it on a milk spill in my car recently and it removed the smell completely.
I liberally poured the stuff on the area where the milk was. Enzyme products work when wet, so just pour it and let it do its job. It won't harm the carpet.
take a bowl of vinegar and set it in your car overnight. if will help the smell. my ex spilled a gallon of milk and it worked wonders.
I would take it to the car wash and have them shampoo the area. It happened to me once too, but luckily I caught it as it happened (the whole bottle of it too) and we went right to the car wash and took care of it. We never had a smell.
If nothing else works, I would call my car insurance company. Discuss it with your agent to get the exact policy wording. If you carry comprehensive coverage, they may cover it as a "flood". You would be responsible for the comprehensive deductible but its better than a stinky car.
I have handled claims where correcting the problem required removing the seats, carpet and the pad under the carpet. In some cases, the carpet and pad had to be replaced.
OxiClean is great on stains and odors and always works well on my car's carpet.
I would get the car interior professionally cleaned.
You'll probably need to take it for a detailed cleaning, including shampooing the carpet. Good luck; sounds yucky.
