Make sure your baby is still having wet diapers and is not showing signs of dehydration. As long as your baby's fine, it's up to you how long you want to try.

Contact a lactation consultant or your local la leche league. I think with my son it took about 4-5 days but he didn't actually latch on to nurse until he was 2 days old (due to complications at birth), but I did use a pump several times a day in the meantime to try and help stimulate the production.
Hang in there!!

It took my milk about 3-4 days to come in. It is different for each person. Just make sure you continue to nurse as that is what stimulates the production. Call you Pediatrician to see what they recommend in the meantime.

Hi M.. Congratulations! Every woman is different but for me it took about two days for my milk to come in. My understanding is that it is typical for it to take a few days. Just to make sure I'd go ahead and call your baby's pediatrician. Most pediatricians or the hospital that you delivered at have a lactation consultant available for you to speak to. You may also want to look at this link that I got off webmd. It talks about what to expect: http://www.webmd.com/parenting/tc/Breast-Feeding-What-Is-...

Good luck!

Mine took just a couple of days. Do you have colostrum? Are you very sure your milk hasn't come in? Sometimes it's not a big event like everyone tells you it is, and it just is there. I know it can take up to five days, and as long as baby seems to be nursing well, it will come in.
Good luck!

I had my baby on a Tuesday and by Saturday and Sunday I was kinda half milk half colostrum...but Monday I was all milk and engorged. I'm sure everone's time frame on milk is different though, I would definitely give it a little longer. It wouldn't hurt maybe to contact a lactation consultant...either with your hospital or pediatrician's office and maybe they could give some tips or advice. Good luck!

I would think your milk has come in by now. I was the same way---I didn't think it had come in, and I was worried about it and my baby was hungry. I made an appointment with the lactation consultant at the hospital and went in to see her that day. She assured me that my milk had indeed come in!! She showed me how to use my hands to help push the milk down. If she hadn't done that, I'm sure I would have ended up with a nasty case of mastitis!!!

M.,

I would say to check with your doctor. You may not be producing milk or could even have a problem with your glands. Never sit and wait if you have ANY questions regarding your breasts. It is better to be safe.

If there is no problem then may I suggest a small glass of wine. Alcohol will help the milk come in quickly. Just remember to only enjoy a small glass of wine, no more than once a day, and then to pump the first of the milk off to expel the alcohol from your system.

My daughter used to have to do this allot with her first child. She just had problems producing the milk. By her second and now third child she has milk in excess.

Good luck and God Bless. Lilly :)

M. it should only take a couple of days for your milk to come in.If you got a breastfeeding book from the hospital or have bought one some of them show yuo how to squeeze your breasts to get the milk out.I would check that way and also usually your milk will let down in a hot shower. If you a still not showing any signs of milk I would call the lactation consultant or your OB.Good Luck!
