Mineral Make-up

I am looking to find a good quality mineral make-up that does not cost an arm and leg to purchase... I have tried Sheer Mineral and I like the texture but I cant see myself spending that kind of money just for foundation make-up. I have thought about trying Bareminerals but when I found out the prices, again - I couldnt bring myself to try it.

My husband was laid off in November and is currently working a part time job. Money is a little tight, but I work as a professional and make-up is a must.

Have any of you tried any mineral make-up that may be less expensive? Any help on this cost savings idea would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Hi L.,

Artistry makes a great mineral makeup, and it is definitely affordable. They are less than $20 per foundation and they offer free shipping if you order $75 or more. I attatched the specific page from my website that will show you the foundations. The concealer is also great paired with this particular foundation. If you have any questions please give me a call!

Thanks,
K.

Hey L.,

I was only able to talk myself into using BareMinerals after my husband had gotten me a gift card to the store in Collierville for a Christmas present.

I absolutely love it! The way that I can talk myself into continuing to use this product (even though it costs so much) is that it lasts a really long time. The base products that you need will cost you about $150 dollars. I only use the base products and what you buy lasts 3 years! So if you think about the fact that you only spent $50 dollars a year on makeup...it makes up for the feeling of indulgence. Good Luck!

I use Baressentials (sp) - they run specials on QVC and have a reasonably priced kits. I have a friend who uses Loreal (sp) and buys it at CVS or Wal-greens - so you can try to catch a sale (like buy one get one half price or free). Good luck! I have been happy with mine.

Hey L., you might want to check out everydayminerals.com. They have great quality mineral m/u and are relatively inexpensive...plus, they give out generous samples; all you have to pay is shipping 5.00, I think.

Hi L., I'm a licensed makeup artist and I use Bare Minerals foundation that I purchase from QVC. They have lots of specials sales especially when you buy a kit with lots of products. Once you purchase the foundation the refills are not that expensive and last a long time and you can get free shipping if you agree to purchase more on a regular basis.
I've not tried other brands of mineral makeup but lots of different liquids and none compare to Bare Minerals. Hope this helps you decide. Blessings, M.

Think you need to go with Mary Kay as that seems to be the concensus. Mary Kay also used to be comparably priced with Clinique products. I use the Mary Kay mineral products and really like them. Good luck with your decision.

I have spent the money on bareminerals and sheer cover, my husband lost his job and we needed to cut back on expenses. I discovered that the avon mineral makeup is just as good for coverage and I won't be buying anything else again. Also, the price is under 10.00 and you get more in one foundation than the really expensive ones. I buy 2 shades and blend them together to get the right shade for me. Good luck, I hope this helps. Mary Kay's mineral make-up is great! It goes on nice & even & has a super natural finished look. Oh, and it stays on your face, not your clothes and it doesn't disappear & leave stripes on your face if you cry. I've used the Avon mineral foundation & had problems with it coming off on my shirts & getting those stripes when I've gotten misty eyed. My Mary Kay rep did a great job of matching my skin tone with the perfect shade of foundation for me, so I highly recommend working with a rep & letting them guide you to the right shade for you. I think the MK foundation is very reasonably priced & it lasts a good while.

I have used Bareminerals and Arbonne and both are great. Bareminerals is about $28 and if you sign up for the mailing list at Ulta or Sephora, (if you live near either), you can get coupons. It also lasts a long time so the cost might not be as bad if it lasts longer than your traditional makeup. You might try Avon, I have not tried it but it may be cheaper. Another thing you could do is to have an Arbonne party at your house and earn the mineral makeup for free! Not sure where you live but I know a good consultant near me or you might find one on here that can host a party for you. That is a good way to get many things you may want but can't afford...jewelry, pampered chef, etc

Hi L.,

I am an independent consultant with Arbonne International and we carry a mineral foundation that is wonderful. and it's plant based, unlike many of the other brands. It does not contain any oil or talc so it will not crease after some time of wearing it.

Additionally, Arbonne has been an exceptional source of income for me. Health and wellness is recession proof. People are going to always want to look and feel good.

Check out my site L. at www.abriggs.myarbonne.com.

i've been a mineral-only gal for about 7 years now and have tried lots of different brands - personally, i'm extremely happy with www.everdayminerals.com and the mineral line from www.eyeslipsface.com - both have very affordable prices and their products are top quality - e.l.f. foundation covers better than any mineral i've tried and i received their starter kit (foundation, concealer, blush, three eyeshadows and a carrying case) for less than $20 - if you join their email list, you will receive an email coupon about once a week and it's usually for 20-50% off :-)

good luck!

I have tried the avon stuff and it didn't cover very well and the colors weren't what I expected. I was able to mix the two together that I had bought and was able to use it, but I do need more coverage.

I really like the stuff Loreal makes. If you watch the ads at Walgreens and RiteAid, it goes on sale pretty regularly for buy one get one free, which makes it really reasonable (about $7 each with the sale). Also, if you save your receipt, they'll take it back if you don't like it or get the wrong color or something. It covers well and is in a handy container. They have blush and all that, too.

I just looked through today's Sunday paper, and Walgreens and Kmart both have it on sale for buy one get one free.

Hi L.. There is a wonderful mineral powder make-up made by Arbonne International. It contains SPF 15 and comes in 15 shades. Best of all it comes with a kabuki brush, which as you probably know usually costs between $20-$30. Your cost would be $27.20. If you are interested contact me! Also, Arbonne gives a 45 day return policy on ALL purchases!

Try this website. http://www.eyeslipsface.com/

I haven't tired it personally (I am a Bare Escentuals lover) but this site was just passed on to me by a friend. I notied they do have some mineral makeup and everything on this site is cheap, cheap, cheap! Hope this helps. Here is the message I got with the email that was passed on to me:

"I bought some of this makeup, having never heard of it, and then saw a story about it on the news the next week. Fox 13 took some of the products to stylists at nice salons (Gould's, etc.) and they all raved about them. The ingredients are comparable to MAC, etc. I am a big fan of Clinique and I have to say that the e.l.f. eye shadows (4 colors for $1!) and lipsticks are of similar quality. This stuff is definitely not what you would expect for $1.00!

I wanted to spread the word because I know makeup can be so expensive and times are tough right now. For my friends that are actors...e.l.f. is a great way to fill your makeup kit. They offer false eyelashes, GREAT brushes, sponges, etc., all for $1 each.

One great thing about elf is that you can combine coupons at checkout. You can find coupons at this website.

http://www.retailmenot.com/view/eyeslipsface.com
(Using "radio" also got me a free lip gloss in addition to the 50% off.)

Be sure to sign up for the e.l.f. mailing list because they will e-mail you coupons and freebies.
If you would like to see some of the stuff first, I usually have it in my purse...so just ask "

Mary Kay Mineral Foundation and Mineral Sheer Pressed Powder is fabulous....I have only used it in conjunction with their skin care products, so I can't attest to its coverage with other skin care, but I love all of their products and compared to other lines, I think it is really reasonable. I believe the mineral foundation is $18.

Hi L., I use mineral foundation too. I buy it through an environmentally green health and wellness company. The preferred customer price is $25 for .88 oz. This foundation is great for sensitive skin. I really love the whole facial cleansing and moisturizing line too.

In addition, you would be able to purchase most all of your household needs with better and safer ingredients for your home and the environment at great prices! You can save even over shopping at Walmart. I love the cleaning line. I can clean with my baby right there ... I don't even have to have the fan on in the bathroom and I don't worry about her touching it, smelling it, etc.

You can contact me if you want more information and also you can check out http://www.switchingstores.com/danipen Let me know if you would like to view the cosmetics and facial care line.

Hi L.,
The best mineral makeup I have ever used is Luxiva Purely Mineral Makeup by Merle Norman. It is about $25, but it lasts a long, long time, and makes your skin look flawless. I never have to worry when I wear it. It lasts all day and blends right in with my skin - no streaks.

However, I was in Sam's Club one day and tried the brand they were selling - for the life of me I can't remember the name of it, and it seemed pretty good, too. I wore that for the rest of the day and it lasted and looked great. I didn't buy it because I was happy with the Merle Norman; but I think it was around $20.

Mineral makeup tends to be more expensive than liquid because it lasts so much longer, but there is definitely a difference in the quality of the brands. Looks like you got a lot of great suggestions on here.

Check out this review of Luxiva at http://www.emakemeup.com/en2/flowerreport/view_review.php....

L. - you get what you pay for. You are young and would benefit so much from taking care of your skin. There are so many compromises in less expensive makeup...and even in some expensive ones. One upscale company mentioned on here often for skin care even uses formaldehyde in some of their skin care products!!! (I have proof.) So you can bet the less expensive companies make such cuts in cost.

I vote for Danielle's answer. By switching stores (which she did not mention the name...but I recognize the details, for sure) you would be using safer products for you and that little sweet boy...AND you would save enough money over all to justify the better quality mineral foundation.

If you have not seen a need for safer products around the litte fellow...read what I have at www.joyboudreau.com and/or ask for a fact sheet or two.

What Danielle did not mention...is that if you love the products as much as I have for the last 17 years...you can earn them free. Free top of the line mineral Foundation - wouldn't that be fun. Contact her for more information.

By the way - I have never met Danielle - I just know she is giving you the best suggestion on here.

I even become a consultant so that I could get my makeup free or at a discount. The quality is great, the product last, and it does NOT cost an arm and leg.

The mineral makeup is wonderful!! We have the mineral base, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. I have tried and am using them now and they are lasting a long time. If you would like to try and see some of the products just let me know . You can check out my webpage at www.beautipage.com/jellison

There are many ways to get your makeup at a discount or free. Just let me know and I will help you if you are interested. Everything is guarantied for you and me so that is great.

I am a stay at home mom of 3 little girls( 4,2 and 7month) and my husband is a self employed youth minister. So I understand a tight budget we live on one. But this company has been great for us and given us great products and extra spending money.

Hope I have helped
