Miscarriage and First Period Question

Hi Moms. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. It was awful and I'm glad to move on. My question is to other moms who have also miscarriaged. I miscarried naturally. I am on the birth control pill now to regulate my peroid for a while. I am on my third week of pills and am bleeding already but some of the blood seems to have "paperlike" things in it. Could this be tissue? How were your first periods after miscarriage?

What can I do next?

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, naturally also. I would say it took about two weeks for me to stop bleeding completely. Than my period came back about 4 weeks after that. My first two periods were heavier than before, with a bit more clotting. I figured it was just my body's way of cleansing itself. Now my periods seem back to the way they were before. I `was not on birth control though and I am not on it now, so I can't answer to that. My normal period always has some clots/tissue and this is fine, so I wouldn't worry. When you have your period, you are not just losing blood, but also uterine lining, so this is what you are probably referring to as paper. I wouldn't be concerned, but if you have any questions, definitely give your ob a call an maybe go in for an exam. Good Luck and I am sorry for your loss.

I miscarried at 5 weeks with my first pregnancy and bled for three days. I had one normal period after that four weeks later (did not go back on the pill) and the following month found out I was pregnant with my daughter.

I believe that the bleeding is just your body trying to regulate itself again.

Good luck!

I had a similar experience with my miscarriage. It was awhile ago and I was over 12 weeks along when I miscarried, but I didn't have a D & C and I wasn't on birth control. I think it took a couple of cycles for me to get back to my regular cycle. My thoughts are with you. I don't think people can truely understand what you're feeling if they haven't experienced it. I think you are a strong woman for going through this naturally. If you need anything else, let me know.

I haven't experienced what you have but wanted to tell you I was sorry and to please listen to what the other moms are saying. They've never taken the pill afterwards. I too find it very odd you were put on the pill! Why not let your body process things normally right now after what it's just been through? I'd seriously ask your doctor to explain why he/she has you on it and if it doesn't make sense or if he/she won't, please seek another opinion. I wish you the best.

The pill will not bring your hormones back on track, in fact the pill will only make it worse. So who is to tell if the issue you are having now is miscarriage related or pill related.
