Hello :)
I would like to make my own Moby Wrap but do not know the dimensions or what kind of fabric works best. Has anyone made this baby carrier before and could you send me some instructions? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I measured my moby wrap and here's what I got:

16 ft long
21 inches wide at widest
4" at the very narrowest end

I folded it in half, and it's at 21" width for 70" before tapering it down (so 140" unfolded).
Tapering is just gradually narrowed down and it's rounded at the narrow ends. Hope that makes sense.

Mine is 95% cotton with 5% spandex. This is an awesome blend if you are trying to make your own because it give support with a little bit of stretch and it also makes it breathe well so you aren't sweating. Of course it is also a knit.

It should be super easy to make a wrap. Here is a link to a list of sewing instructions for all the different kinds of carriers (including wraps) or you can just google "Make your own baby wrap carrier" and you should come up with lots of links. Good Luck!!

I am not exactly sure about the Moby Wrap since I do not own one. But I went to the fabric store and bought 5 yards of muslin. (It costs around $1.49 a yard). Then I folded it it half so that the width was doubled (for double strength of holding the baby) but the length was still 5 yrds. I sewed the ends so that it won't come unfolded. Then I googled baby wrapping instructions so that I could find the best wrap that worked for us. There are different ways to wrap at different ages for the baby. Once you practice a few times, it is really easy to wrap the baby. And it is so much more comfortable that the Baby Bjorn or other carriers like that. Feel free to email me personally if you have any other questions.
