My eight month old baby has a few dry red patches, and some red dryness around her nipple. I switched to the Dreft detergent and I've been putting Aveno lotion on her and a little vaseline too on the redness. Does anyone know of a really good lotion for this problem, I will end up taking her to the doctors soon, but thought maybe someone had some success with some other lotion??? Thanks, K.

What can I do next?

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am using the aquaphor lucrene lotion and trying the arbone products. It seems to be doing better!

My son has eczema and I've seen 5 doctors. Most of them recommended using Aquaphor except for one. He said that Aquaphor wouldn't be as beneficial because it's more like a vaseline and to try using Cetaphil. I bought it at Costco and so far it's been great. He also prescribed some ointments to use.

go with certified organic products for your baby. there is an intensive lotion from One Group that is perfect for infants and the whole family. Go to www.balancedvitality.mionegroup.com and order the Intensive Body lotion. This will nourish and moisturize the skin. Also try adding more healthy fats to your baby's diet, such as avocado.

My daughter is 22 months and has had bad eczema since birth. We use one of three things, aquaphor, eucerine and/or Aveeno that is especially made for eczema. The key is to put the lotion on right after bath before the baby is completely dry then it will absorb nicely and stay on all night while she sleeps. Definitely sounds like eczema....bummer. The doctor will give a prescription if it worsens.

I have to copy on the Renew. I did some research recently on Aveeno ingredients and it can actually make it worse over the long run. Renew is clinically proven. I also have a recipe to add to the renew that will boost its effectiveness and is safe for your baby. If you would like I can help connect you with some renew and the recipe. Just send me an email at ____@____.com

My daughter had severe eczema and Eucerin and Aquaphor worked best. I believe they're both made by the same company, just that one is an ointment and one is a lotion. Presciptions can help if it gets too bad, but if you can help it, try these first. I hear California Baby has a good line, but I've never tried it.

Just be aware that if it is eczema, the likelihood of her getting asthma is pretty high. :(

Good luck!

Arbonne has a great baby line. You can order it online www.arbonne.com, I'm a consultant and can order it for you and save you 30%, or find a friend who is a consultant (you'd be surprised at how many women are! Just ask them. Many don't grow the business, they just joined for the savings.)

California Baby also has a great line of baby bath products and a lavender lotion that I still use on my five year old. She loves it before bedtime. The purpose here it to go gentle, gentle, gentle. And non-toxic. We adults have put way too many harsh chemicals in our homes and new skin just can't take it.

Best of luck.

It sounds like eczema. Poor baby. My daughter has it (7.5months old) and the dr. gave me a perscription cream for the bad areas and then i use Eucerne (sp?) lotion daily. I add lavender essential oil in the lotion, the lavender soothes and heals. It also smells nice too!
My dr. told me that baby lotions are really watered down and won't do much for dry skin.
Hope that helps, Good Luck!
