Now that my kids are older, 15, 12 & 9, I am finding it much harder to meet other moms. Does anyone have a mom's group they belong to in the Oswego area that moms with older kids can join? We moved here 4 years ago. I own my own business which I moved out of the house about 1 1/2 years ago. I pretty much work school hours, but I can be flexible since I'm the boss. lol Would really like to find a social type group. Thanks for any info!

What can I do next?

Hi A., other than the MOPS group at Cross Lutheran, I
am not aware of anything else. But very interested in finding
something or even starting something socially for us moms who
would like some sanity time!! Keep me in mind if you find something worth while. L. T.

I am a mom in the Oswego area of a 10 year old girl, 7 year old boy, and a 8 month old boy. I would love to get together and meet you. The best way that I found though to meet other people is to get your kids invovled in something. Oswego offers so many different options for them, for all ages. Getting them involved is great for them, you, and the community. In the summer they also have things like movie or concert in the park. A lot of people attend, and that too is a good social event. Watch the calendar! Also finding a good church is a great place to meeet people. I go to New Song Community Church. If your interested, let me know. Hope to meet you!

I would be interested in a mom's group as well. I do think it is harder as your children get older to stay connected with other parents. Also, we moved here last year so I am still learning the area and what there is to do around here.

Hi A., I am the owner of a Will County Moms group if you are interested...the link is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WillCountyMoms/

My kids are 12, 9, and 1 and I'm due with another in September. We live in south Plainfield, but there are members in all areas within our group.

You could also try meetup.com but there is usually a fee for those groups. Good luck!

Mothers & More has a huge variety of moms - different backgrounds and ages. There are many "seasoned moms" in my chapter dealing with teenagers. I'm in the Dupage County chapter, but I've heard great things about the Oswego one. Here's a link.

There is a moms group from Yorkville that meets on a regular basis. Currently they are into JAMS (Just Add Meat) which is a meal making class where you bring meat of your choice and leave with 4 main dish meals. Contact Suzi at ###-###-####. There is MOPS at Cross Lutheran in Yorkville (you could be a mentor mom) contact Debora at ###-###-####. There is a Moms4Moms group in Plano the 2nd Wednesday of the month-this is for women of all ages - contact D. at ###-###-####. Or go to www.meetups.com. Hope this helps!

I know this isn't really what you're looking for, but I go to church close to Oswego. It's a bible based home church that includes kids in the service. If you're interested send me an email and I'll give you the details.

Hi A.--

I'm a member of the Will County chapter of Mothers & More--we have members at different stages of motherhood: some just starting out and others "seasoned" (like me!). My kids are 12, 10, and 9; I have been a member since my youngest was 5 months old. I have made many friends in the area as well as nationally (I volunteer within the organization). There is a chapter in Oswego.

You can find out more about Mothers & More and the Oswego chapter (and other local chapters) by going to www.mothersandmore.org -- click on find chapters--then click on IL--then click on the chapter website(s) you want to check out. You can attend 2 chapter meetings before deciding whether you want to join.

If you want more information, please feel free to contact me. Good luck!
