Moms of Children with Asthma Help for Infant with Asthma

My 4month old has asthma. At least the drs are finally suspecting that. I had it as a child, and he's already had several episodes of wheezing. Anyway, my question is for mom's who's children have asthma. What's the best way you have found to 'prevent' attacks.

I plan on getting an air purifier. What works best,,,one for the whole house, or smaller ones for individual rooms.

Besides his treatments...any insight into what has/has not helped and what you've found in your journey would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I have a friend that has three children diagnosed with asthma. I recommended detoxing her home to get rid all of the chemical stimuli and none of the children have had an episode in years. I know you can't detox the entire world but if you get rid of most of the bad stuff, the immune system will start working properly. Our immune systems were never built to fight synthetic chemical stimuli so when it's removed and working properly, the body can fight of the natural things so much more easily.

Detoxing can be simple and actually can save you so much money in the long run. It doesn't have to be expensive. I'll be glad to walk you through what I did to make my home healthier.

God bless,

M.

A pediatric pulmonologist should be your first stop. My son was diagnosed with asthma at 7 months, after a five day stay in the hospital with bronchiolitis. Our doctor gave us a nebulizer. He had to use it three days a week for several months. However, he is now 5 1/2 and in the last three years, we've used the nebulizer about 10 times. The preventative meds will work. When my son starts getting a cold, we take out the nebulizer and use it twice a day for 2-3 days. It prevents any wheezing and helps cut the time of the cold in half. I also found that raising his crib mattress helped his breathing.

Hi, you don't mention if you're nursing or not. If you're breastfeeding, I suggest getting off ALL dairy products, at least until he's weaned. If you're using formula, get off dairy. check out www.notmilk.com it may not be from the dairy but dairy will make it worse. cow's dairy produces phlegm and really makes asthma worse and often is a contributing factor.

Use clean soaps, detergents, etc. Seventh generation is a good one and you can get coupons from their site and often find their products on sale and stock up. Costco even has a line without harsh chemicals and other junk they load up detergents with now.

I have 7 yr old twins. One of them developed wheezing at about 18months. They said it was asthma, but she eventually outgrew it. Usually if they get it at an early age they can outgrow it. At that time I actually purchased a nebulizer for breathing treatments. It saved me from running to the ER when she was having breathing problems.

The other twin developed allergy induced asthma later on so she still has the wheezing/coughing on occassion. I am so glad I purchased the nebulizer. It comes with us on all vacations.

I am wating to hear responses back on the air purifier, as I am thinking of purchasing one for her room.

First I would take your your baby to Pediatric Pulmonologist. They will do a complete work up and determine if he has issues. Normally they will not diagnose a baby as young as 4 months. Both of my Sons have asthma. It's all about getting them on the right proventive medicine, and staying on top of it.

I wouldn't stress about it too much. Doctors can't diagnose asthma for sure until about 4 yrs. My son wheezed all the time since the day he was born. His doctor said it MAY be asthma but there isn't much they could do. He was referred to an allergist but due to schedules and moving out of state, he couldn't make the appointment. We moved from INdiana to Florida and it stopped. He still has some wheezing in the colder months but nothing that I would have him see a doctor about.
He also is lactose intolerant and when he has any dairy it sometimes makes the wheezing worse.
An air purifier is your best bet, wether he has it or not it'll be good for him and the whole family!

I took my son to a chiropractor who did kinesology and he put him on a natural medicine, gave him an adjustment and after 1 1/2 years, he lost the wheezing. I personally take MSM to help me with my asthma that comes with allergies. There are ways to get around steriods, you just have to look and research. Good luck.

Dear R.,

I am so sorry to hear about your precious baby. I can encourage you knowing
that good nutrition helps everything and enhances immune function. Fruits and vegetables
are key and one can put some fruit and vegetable powders into the baby's bottle or formula (please let me know if you would like more information). Lactose intolerance can be an issue so I might monitor dairy and how it affects the baby. Believe it or not, chiropractic can help too as the nerve that feeds the lungs can be affected if during the birthing process the vertebrae that affect the lung function was subluxated or slightly impaired.

Cannot emphasize enough the need for "God" food. Let me know if I can help you
fruther with whole food nutrition and we'll celebrate the victory in advance!

Best and blessings in health and in Him,
C.

The best prevention is avoiding vaccine and getting him to a NAET practioner immediately to eliminate food allergies for life! There is not a med in the world that will cure him of asthma or related conditions because his body is inflammed. He is toxic! Check out NAET.com for a dr in your area.

Hi R.,
It appears my son also has asthma. Ours is usually brought on by either colds or Pollen Count.
We have been on a Nebulizer when needed. And when my son refuses the Nebulizer or I have heard him in the middle of the night, I have used Tiger Balm.
It is similar to Vicks, but much stronger in scent. Do a google search on it. You will find that it has the same purposes as Vicks. I use it for my self too. You only use just a little dab. IT goes a long way. I didn't think to use it but, I did a search on "Natural Remedies for Asthma" and it came up. Then I changed my search to "Is Tiger Balm" good for Asthma and the results came up very much in Favor. You can find it at Organic food stores and some specialty shopes (Chinese) I have never seen it in a grocery store.
Also, When I notice that my son isn't feeling well and it sort of leans towards the wheezing, I usually give him a little hot tea made up of Sweet Echinacea and honey. If I catch it early enough, he is usually good to go with in an hour. If I don't, I usually give him more and with in a day he is better. Or I will make my own tea if there is a Fever with it. I use a mixture of Mint leaves, Red Raspberry Leaves, & Ginger. I have also used on occasion a humidifier when it is late at night.
Those work for us.
The best part now that he is older, he asks for the Nebulizer when he feels it coming on.
This is what we do. I hope that helps.
