Hi R.!!
I've suffered from mild depression for years! I hated being on meds- they all made me feel weird, didn't work, or made me gain weight too.
After the birth of my second baby in March, I suffered from PPD. I was nursing and felt didn't want to take anything that would jeopardize my daughter. I started exercising. Just walking at home for 30 min every evening. I began feeling so much better about myself!
I now workout two/three times a week with a WONDERFUL trainer! He works primarily with women who are "in slumps" ;) and want to feel good about themselves, again!

His prices are so unbelievable! He is also wanting to put together another group class, but needs more women for it!
Check out his website: Hi!!

By the way, I feel GREAT!!
God Bless!

I didn't gain weight due to Lexapro, but going off it was a nightmare. I had head splitting headaches so bad I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room. My suggestion is step ladder yourself off of it. Reduce your dosage, under drs care, rather than stopping all at once.
**** One more thing, if you don't have depression, it could be due to the Lexapro. ****
Your dr may need to switch your medicine. It sounds like is actually helping with the original problem. It just created a new one. These drugs work so well that people often feel better and think they don't need their medicine any more and stop taking it! Then guess what - depression all over again.

I had a lot of trouble w/weight gain on this medication also. My dr told me to try splitting the dosage, taking half in the morning and half in the eveneing. Doing this has helped a little bit, but I still really have to watch my eating. I am also having trouble losing the weight that I put on in the first place :(

I gained 15 on Lexapro before I finally got off it. I loved the way it made me feel, but the weight gain was a major problem for me. It has been 2 years and I still have probs with the weight. It may just be my age, but I think the Lexapro kicked it off!

I was on zoloft back in the day and I got huge-but I was too happy to care. I'm 30 today and work out a lot to ward off depression, different things work for different people, but yes, I have known tons of women that gained weight on meds

I gained a ton of weight on lexapro. I hated it! My dr would not admit it was the medicine. I had maintained a nice weight all of my life. A few months on lexapro and i gained like 20lbs...yuck!!!! I'd rather have the mild depression.
