Ulcerative colitis is one diagnosis that requires finding the right specialist, who is willing to work with you, until you find the treatments that work best for you. It is a particularly tricky condition, because each individual responds differently to irritants and medications. Try not to internalize anyone else's lack of progress with the condition. Know that it is definitely possible to live a very healthy life.
While you are working to find the doctor you trust, may I suggest that you keep a daily journal of :
*what and how much you eat, and at what time
*what and how much you drink, and at what time
*what time you go to bed
*what time you rise
*on a scale of 1-10, how stressful the day was, and what were the stressors
*your health on that day
For many folk, it is a combination of reducing stress when possible, keeping a regular meal schedule, eating non-upsetting foods, drinking non-upsetting drinks, sleeping regularly for full night's sleep, and taking medication that helps control the condition.
Alll my best.
