More Milk Plus?

A couple of days ago I asked a breastfeeding question due to a pain I was having in my breast. The pain is now gone, thank the lord. But some of the responces I got told me about the La Leche League. A couple of women told me about these herbal pills called More Milk Plus that are supposed to increase your milk supply. They also told me about the herbal pills Fenugreek but that a side effect was you and baby begin to smell like maple syrup.

So I chose to try the More Milk Plus pills. Just wondering if anyone else had given them a try and what kind of results if any they got. And how fast your milk supply increased if it did.

I just got them in the mail today and took one a couple of hours ago, so needless to say I havent been taking them long enough to notice any change.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The More Milk Plus pills have really helped. In fact now I am becoming engorged too much and am having to pump alot more.

I also drink a beer everyonce in a while! Thanks for that great tip!

I did the Fenugreek and noticed a difference within a day. I would think that these would be similar. The maple syrup isn't actually a bad thing, except that you want pancakes all the time. :) And I never noticed baby to have the smell, just me (sweat, urine).

I know that with the Fenugreek, they say to ignore the label and start with 3, 3 times a day, and increase up to 5-6, 3 times a day. I'm not sure what those pills say, but you may want to ask a lactation consultant if you don't notice a difference soon.

Really want to increase your milk supply?? Have a beer before bed and then drink a huge glass of water. No lie.

A friend of mine is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.... she actually recommends this method. It's the brewers yeast that affects your supply. She told me the amount of alcohol that actually ends up in your milk is just 1% of your blood alcohol level... so even if you were legally drunk... at 0.08... it would only be 1% of THAT in your milk. Drops really.

Pump OFTEN, or put baby to the breast OFTEN, drink the beer, eat oatmeal, there are lactation cookies you can make .. and you can increase your supply. BTW... my friend told me about an incident where she was visiting friends... WAY past the "leaking" stage... had a beer and literally SOAKED her shirt later in the day. I found I can't drink a whole beer, only sips of my husbands otherwise I wake up in the middle of the night engorged.

more milk plus has fenugreek in it among other things. I have heard it helps. I lost my milk at 4 months with both children because I make too much estrogen. Therefore my body wants to shut down my milk supply so I can make another baby. Basically I can get pregnant easily, but can't sustain milk. If this isn't an issue for you and you are merely trying to make more milk, I would suggest brewers yeast.

I am a working mom and my baby is 5months. He is solely breastfeed. I take milk thistle twice a day one pill each time and fenugreek 4 times day. one pill each time. It has been good for me and we don't smell like maple. We have about 1 week milk supply stored up. I don't know how much your milk plus was but look at the ingredients and see if it is the same.
Good luck..

I first used Fenugreek with both babies because it is cheaper, but it was never enough for me. I switched to More Milk Plus (MMP) and found it to work MUCH better. It is expensive, but allowed me to breastfeed only. When I wasn't using MMP, I had to supplement to meet my babies needs.

Good luck!
