I was wondering if is the prenatals that make feel that way....
I went to the doctor today, I'm going to start taking the Flinstones vitamins and I'm going to try and find a tea with ginger. It feels good to talk about it and have some many responses. Thank You for all the responses and I will keep you updated in how am I doing.

Hi C.,
My friend had the same problem so she tried a fire ball and suprising enough it worked. It also good for morning sickness.
I had the same problem with the prenatal vitamins as well. The doctor had me take flinstones vitamins with iron and then I was better.
Prenatal vitamins made me queasy. So I took them right before bed. That way I slept through it. Hope this helps! Enjoy your pregnancy!
Hey,
I had horrible morning sickness with both of mine to the point I was on a pump giving me medicine. I could never take my prenatal during the day, I took it right before bed. The iron would make me sick. I hate that you have acid reflux! I had that with my second and I would take constant morning sickness any day over that. I was always told morning sickness is a sign of a healthy pregnancy. It made me want to hit people but...Good luck!
Try peppermints. THey worked wonders with me. Also FLAT (meaning open it and let it sit and get room temp. and also go flat and drink it SLOW) gingerale, or sprint. Also a few crackers. I always felt sick when I got hungry. So try to ALWAYS keep alittle something in your tummy. If you are waiting till you are too hungry and then over eating that could be whats making you feel bad.
Unfortunately, it is not only due to the prenatals. When you're pregnant, your stomach muscles relax, causing lots of indigestion. I had a really rough time with my pregnancy that way. A few things that did help, though - vitamin B6 really did seem to take away some of the morning sickness for me, and slippery elm (an herb) helped with the acid reflux. Sometimes all I could keep down, though, was the liquid Ensure. Hopefully yours will go a lot better! The Ensure has tons of vitamins and protein, etc. in them, so if you absolutely can't take the prenatals, that should work (as long as you also take a folic acid supplement). Also, my doctor said I could take one type of over the counter digestion aid for the last three months, and that helped quite a bit. Ask your doctor what's safe for you to take for now. God bless, and congrats!
For my first 3 months I had really BAD morning sickness. I thought it was the prenatal Vitams to but it wasn't. It was just plan old morning sickness. For the heart burn that didn't start up to later. But my doctor suggested Pecpicd PC they are the best you can take up to 2 a day and they work 60 times better than tums. I took 1 almost every day of my pregnancy and then my son can out with a head FULL of cole black hair :) good luck with everything
Hi, I had horrible morning sickness. My doctor told me not to take the prenatals for a while and then try again when the morning sickness seemed to subside. You may want to ask, but it helped me a little. I was so sick that I was taking phengran(i dont think i spelt that right). I hope that helps a little.
Hi! It's very possible that the prenatals could be doing that. I went through that when I was pregnant with my son. My doctor told me to take them before I went to bed, that way if they upset my stomach, I would already be asleep. It worked great for me. I hope this helps.
Hi C. my name is J. I have a three year old son I found that taking my prenatal at night really helped and also taking tums but not chewing them sucking on them also taking small bites of crackers all day long ginger also will help some what you can get ginger pops at babies R us they are called preg-pops just ask them they will know what they are. but it should pass in time I know that is not what you want to hear but it will any other questions e-mail me at ____@____.com good luck and congrats!!
Hey C.,
I agree with the others about the vitamins, and as far as the acid reflux, mine was horrible the whole time I was pregnant. I could drink a glass of water and have heartburn. Tums, rolaids, nothing worked for me except Pepcid Complete tablets...I basically lived on them for the last 4 months or so...just wish I had found them sooner! Good luck, and congrats!

Try taking the prenatal before you go to bed. Sometimes the prenatal can make you feel like that and if you take it at night, you can sleep through the discomfort.
yes, it is the prenatal. Call your dr and they can recommend another one for you. I didn't have this problem but a good friend of mine did. She ended up just taking flinstone vitemins through her pregnancy since her stomache couldn't handle the prenatals.
I was viciously ill with my first, so I've tried it all. The three things my doctor recommended that I found to be effective:
1)Vitamin B6. (For some reason, it helps.)
2)Switching to a prenatal vitamin WITHOUT iron. (And taking it before bed.)
3)And, finally, the best thing I tried was Zofran. I was losing a lot of weight and was incredibly miserable, so I gave it a try. It is as safe as taking Tylenol, and it WORKS. --- The only downside: If you insurance doesn't cover it, it is outrageous. When I had it 3 years ago, it was $8 PER Pill. Yikes.
Hang in there! It gets better eventually. (Although like someone else said -- the heartburn just gets worse. TUMS TUMS TUMS. lol)
Try taking your prenatal at night, right before bed. When I got pregnant the first piece of advice that I got from both my pregnant sister-in-laws was that! That should help. Just hang in there, once you get to your second trimester you should stop feeling so queasy!
This is probably for your vitamins. Try taking them before you go to bed. I had to do that and it was alot better. If that doesn't work after a couple of days talk to your Dr.
Couple of things...Try taking your prenatal right before you go to sleep (that way you sleep through any upset stomach issues), try eating smaller meals through out the day instead of one lunch, Peppermint candy is good to settle things down, also try ginger tea. It doesn't taste that great, so I recommend either adding honey or making ice cubes and crushing them.
Try taking your prenatal right before bed w/ a spoonful of peanut butter or some other form of concentrated protein. That is the only way I got through both pregnancy's.
I hate to sound like a repeat, but I agree with all the others. My first symptom when I was pregnant was actually heartburn. I never had heartburn until I was pregnant, I would also get heartburn from a glass of water. I had a bottle of tums upstairs, downstairs, in the car and in my purse. As for the prenatal vitamins, at first the ones I got from the doctor made my morning sickness even worse so I switched to the ones with GNC. It also helps to take them at night if they're giving you a hard time. Congratualtions on your first pregnancy
HI C.! I am a happy mom of a 15 month old boy and I remember my first few months of being pregnant. My prenatals made me sick and I could barely eat. I stop taking my prenantals ( I do not recommend doing so until you talk to your doctor) and ate food fortified with extra vitamins and folic acid. The only thing I could manage to keep down was ceral and anything with sugar in it (starbursts!). That was my first four months after that I seem to eat fine until the end and after having my son. Good luck to you! ~Jenn
It's been a very long time since I was pregnant. I recall the Dr. giving me a prenatal but I never took any, now I'm glad I didn't.
The reason I'm chiming in here is because of the "Flintstones" vitamins. If my Dr. suggested them I wouldn't take them either... because of the ingredients. There are some pretty toxic ingredients in most products sold today and the Flintstones is one of them.
I think new mom's today would want to know if the ingredients in products they buy, for themselves and baby, are actually safe. There is a cosmetic safety database that you may want to check out, it's by The Environmental Working Group. They have a database full of product/ingredient studies. If the product is not listed you can simply type in the name of the chemicals/ingredients individually and get the results (it's not the fastest way to find out, but at least you will find out what you're getting).
Just Google "skin deep: cosmetic safety database" and their website will come right up on top.
I think today, more than ever, we really need to be pro-active when it comes to what we bring into our homes and lives. Just my 2 cents.
You can also learn a lot about nutrition at the "Weston A. Price Foundation" website.
I hope that these two sites can provide some answers and benefits to all the mom's and new babies.
Many blessings to you.
Yes, it could be the prenatals. Those pills are tough to digest, that could be part of it. I had such terrible trouble with both of my pregnancies with the pills that I got the doctor to switch my pills to chewable prenatals. There are a couple of different brands. They taste just ok, but they were so much easier on my stomach!
Also, don't think you're abnormal if you don't have your stomach troubles in the morning. I had all of my "morning" sickness just as I was getting off work around 5ish. Driving home was awful! The best thing I found for that was ginger. Look for one of the small companies that lists ginger extract as an ingredient in their ginger ale (Canada Dry and Schweppes and the big companies just use artificial stuff now) - or if you like tea, look for an herbal tea with ginger in it and sip it when your stomach starts rolling. Safe for pregnant ladies, it's a natural herbal stomach soother.
Good luck!!
First off, morning sickness is not always in the morning. SOme people get sick at the same time everyday, you's seems to be after lunch. Secondly, I wouold take my prenatals right before bed, if I were you. They tend to make one sick and you can sleep through it if you go to sleep right after taking it or even just laying down.
Now, the acid reflux will probably only get worse so get to like Tums. They will be your best friend!
The prenatal worked best for me right before bed. My dr said whatever works as long as I take it.
That happened to me during my pregnancies. I switched to taking mine just before climbing into bed at night! I heard you can also take a Flintstone vitamin if you can't handle the regular prenatal! Congratulations!
Take your prenatal right before bed. Or switch to Flinstone Completes. By about midway through my pregnancy, I just stopped taking everything all together. Just make sure you eat healthy and you shouldn't need them.
For the reflux, Tums. It's safe during pregnancy. It got me through the end.
C.,
When I was pregnant, my doctor actually didn't want to give me prenatal vitamins right away because they can make you seem. You may want to talk to your doctor about seeing if you can take just daily vitamins and see if that helps the sickness and acid reflux.
Angie
I sympathize. With my first pregnancy I kept indegestion/heart burn constantly. Just like with you, everything was usually okay until I took the prenatal vitamin. The vitamin was making me sick! I had to stop taking them. My doctor told me that Flinestone vitamins worked just as well...but they made me sick also. So, I would try the Flinstone's, they may work for you. Hope something helps!!
Definitely could be, try switching brands. I used Nature's Way Prenatal Multi...a bit more expensive than the brands you find at walmart, etc. but worth every penny as they have no preservatives or artificial ingredients. Can be found at health food stores.
C.- I had an inflamed gall bladder when I was in the last three months of my pregnancy and really couldn't eat anything and in the afternoons it felt like a buring fire ball right under where my ribs meet. It didn't have anything to do with my vitamins although I did have a problem finding one at the start of my pregnancy that didn't make me ill. I think you need to call your doctor because it sounds kind of like the gall bladder problem that I had.
Try taking them at night - that is what I did and it won't upset your stomach as much (or you will sleep through it hopefully!).
Hi! I am in my 39th week of pregnancy. I had the same problem. I would feel fine until I took my prenatal vitamin. My DR suggested that I take Flintstone chewables until I got past my 4th month. I did that and felt a whole lot better. Hope this helps!
It may be the prenatals, I would ask your MD or Midwife if they can get you a different script. My midwife even had me just take childrens vitimis with Iron.
Hi C.,
I take the pre-natal vitamins from GNC. They come with and without iron. The reason I say this, is that during your first trimester of pregnancy, some women have a real hard time with iron supplements. I did! It made the morning sickness much worse. This may or may not be your problem, but I would check to see how much iron is in your vitamin just in case. Also, my doctor did mention that Mylanta and Prilosec OTC are both fine during pregnancy (I'd check on taking them during the 1st trimester - Those were both recommended to me during the 2nd trimester). Also, I would also recommend taking your vitamin at night. This definately might help.
Hi C., I am 36 years old and have three kids. The prenatals were fine for my first two pregnancies, but with my third they mad me very sick (all day long). So talk to your dr. and see if you can try another one or just eat the right foods, that is what I did. Good Luck!!! T. P
ur prenatal vitamins might be too strong i had to take flintstone vitamins becuz they were the only thing that didn't upset my stomach also (ask ur dr.to be sure for u) but i took zantac throughout both of my pregnancies becuz i had nonstop heartburn/reflux.
I would experiment w/ the time that you take your prenatals. I had to take mine after dinner. Also, heartburn/acid reflux is VERY common when you are pregnant. I never had it before I was pregnant, but unfortunately it stuck around after delivery. It is fine to take prilosec OTC. I lived on that stuff while I was pregnant! Good luck!
