I am expecting again and this is my 3rd. I have never been this sick before. I can't even hold water down. Is there anything that may help calm my stomache?

What can I do next?

I loved that one of you said help around the house would be something to ask for. I want to know where i can find your family. My husband thinks i'll live and i should keep up with all the house work just like every other day. I have a full time job to. Thanks for the advice again and the chinese food seems to be the key i love crab ragoons right now!!! my family is getting tired of it though lol.

Anything ginger or cinnamon flavored. Sounded odd when my doctor recommended cinnamon flavored mints or candy but I was ready to try anything. I still had morning sickness but it did ease it a lot.

Bland food helps too plain baked potato, chicken broth, salt free crackers, etc.

I also was sick a lot with my 2nd daughter the first 4mo and couldn't keep hardly anything down, even smells of certain foods would make me sick. My OB suggested Emetrol (I am not sure if I spelled it right) you can buy it over the counter at most pharmacies. I hope you find something that works for you, it is so miserable to be sick all the time.

Maybe also try some unisom along with vitamin B6 its supposed to be really good for that. If all else fails, call your OB, they can give you a prescription to help. They can give you reglan or a big one that is given out alot is Zofran. I was put on reglan through my first pregnancy and it really seemed to help, still had a small amount of nausea but was finally able to keep food down.
Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon....

Hello R.. While I was pregnant with my son I experienced more nausea than I ever hope to again. Though I didn't find anything that truly made it go away (other than time)my OBGYN had two suggestions that did work to varying degrees. The first is the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Tea (I'v heard others substitute toast for the tea)this diet is a little easier on an upset stomach. The second was Emetrol for Nausea. This is available over the counter and is approved for use by expectant mothers.

Another thing that you might try is drinking the syrup that comes in canned fruit. My daughter was seriously ill and couldn't keep anything down. My pediatrician recommended a tablespoon of the syrup (had to be the heavy syrup not lite)every 15 minutes. This worked for her and it might be worth a try. It worked wonders for her. And as I'm sure you already know, don't go anywhere without a package of saltines. My mom told me when she was pregnant she would eat a couple before she ever got out of bed ;o)

I've heard vitamin B6 I think it is helps? Also there are prenatal pills now that can be perscribed that help. Def talk to your Dr. expecially to make sure you're not dehydrated if you can't even keep water down! With my first son I ended up losing 10-15lbs due to being sick. I ate a lot of egg rolls! Somebody told me I craved them because of the cabbage in them calms an upset stomach. Also mint helps too... Def talk to your Dr though to find out what's best for you... Good Luck!!

Hi, R., I had two boys and hardly any morning sickness. I probably threw up maybe 4 times total with both of them. My daughter, on the other hand, was a different story. I was sick for six months straight and found the only things I could keep down were tomato soup and granny smith apples with salt on them. I had a mid-wife, she gave me a book to help me find some "remedies". Pretty much, if you can find ANYTHING you can keep down, eat it, even if it's twinkies. You may need to switch to something else to drink....try a gatorade watered down. Also, lying on my back or side most of the time seemed to help, too, because when I got up, I threw up. Sometimes it just helped to eat whatever I was craving, and eat them in very small amounts. Your body will usually tell you what it needs. Avoid anything with caffeine or anything that would typically cause an upset stomach or gas. You might want to avoid the dinner table until your stomach settles down a little. Try eating while lying on your left side.

If all else fails, your OB should be able to give you something to calm your stomach down, although there are side effects to those drugs, too.

I hope this helps. I know EXACTLY what you're going through, and you will get through it, you may just need some friends or family to come in and help you get the basics done...like laundry or dishes, or have some church members bring some dinners for your family for a little while. They'll be more than happy to help you out, that's what they're there for!

Hi R., first of all congrats on your pregnancy! So exciting! I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy. I was there not too long ago and it was horrible! You've already recieved great advice but just wanted to add something...make sure you take your prenatals at night before you go to bed. Those things are STRONG and definitely tend to add to the nausea. Taking them before you go to bed should help a lot. Hope this helps a little! Our bodies sure do go through a lot to make these little babies :) I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

Congratulations R.!! I just had my second baby four weeks ago, so I am just now getting caught up on mamasource... even though I should be napping when the babies are napping.. HAHAHA

I wanted to tell you, with my second child, I used Acupuncture to help with morning sickness. I swear by it. It not only calmed my stomach and sickness, I would leave each time with so much energy. It was great!

I dont know of anyone in your area... I used someone in Lenexa KS. If you would like her name, just let me know. Otherwise, good luck, I do hope you are feeling better!
