My sister just found out she has a Morton's Neuroma and was told by the specialist that she shouldn't wear the flip flops, high heels, etc... that we girls like to wear. I'm spreading the word to everybody I know and see if anybody has had luck with any particular brand/ style of casual sandle/shoe for everyday wear that is cute and protects a neuroma.

What can I do next?

I would suggest some cute ballet flats. They are really in style and lots of comfortable styles available.

I have had to deal with an MN for more than ten years; I ended up having surgery to remove it but still had to be careful to wear proper shoes because they do come back and frankly I have had pains recently because mine seems to be returning. Your sister should try to get some more info if possible about just what may be causing her MN. I found that wearing flats and low heels was just as bad or worse than wearing cute shoes with heels etc. In my case, I determined that part of the cause for my MN was the loss of my arch in that foot, which I attribute to a car wreck that ruined my knee. Flat shoes made my MN worse because there was absolutely no arch support. I have been able to find nice acceptable shoes, albeit very expensive, by buying Ferrangamo italian shoes. Those shoes, recommended by a foot surgeon, have more and better support than regular shoes. Ferrangamos cost a fortune compared to regular shoes, but I can say that I have been able to keep them much much longer than cute shoes and they have a classic style (albeit old woman's style) and you don't have to trade them in to get new styles every year, so the money can even out over time. Also, I tried a very expensive custom arch support provided by the specialist and it did not really help. By coincidence, I found some arch supports being sold in a tent at the Ft Worth stock show and they were absolutely wonderful, and only about a fifth of the cost of the custom supports. Those supports expanded my shoe supplies a great deal, although it still has to be something with sides high enough and ends wide enough that the support will fit comfortably. Sandals and flats are a thing of the past for me. Fortunately I am now an old woman so it's not as hard on me as it was ten years ago. I have seen some flats by Nike that looked like they had good arch support built in and if I could find them I would buy them; they are cute enough to wear with capris or shorts etc. Good luck to your sister, you cannot have any idea how painful a MN can be until you experience it.

Crocs make a bunch of cute styles now including ballet-like flats. I have the Mary Jane style and they are extremely comfortable. They all seem to have a large box toe with flat soles which seems like what you may be looking for. I get mine at Nordstroms, but I think they sell lots of other places for the same prices. Good luck on your search.

I have it too. I have found that it isn't specifically a certain style of shoe, but just certain pairs. I haven't found any pattern to what causes it to act up. My keds have never caused problems. I have also had luck with Candies for sandals.
