My Daisy Girl Scout troop is meeting this week and I was wondering if anyone had any cute (and easy) ideas for a Mother's Day craft. I sort of dropped the ball on this. I was originally going to do something out of recycled materials for the "use resources wisely" petal, but I haven't been saving anything to use. Now I am just looking for any cute craft the girls will have fun making. It should be something that can be completed relatively quickly (e.g. around 20 minutes). Any creative people out there with some ideas?

Paint plain planters, then put flowers in them? (I love flowers, especially if they are still growing. :) lol.)
Get some little spice shaker jars from the dollar store. Mix up some cinnamon and sugar in them. Make labels or tags that say "Here is a little something sweet to make your Mother's Day toast a treat." Or make soup mix in a jar or cookie mix in a jar. The kids like measuring out the ingredients.
If you cut a bunch of celery down low you can use the bottom as a stamp to make beautiful flower bunches. As a plus side you can use the individual stalks as a snack for the girls with dip or peanut butter. You'll be surprised how pretty the stamps are. Set out a few paper plates with paint & get a roll of butcher paper & let the girls go to town! One the paint dries, they can go back & draw in stems & messages with sharpies.
I saw a cute craft the preschoolers did recently. They had buttons that were glued onto heavy paper, then they used their finger and thumbprints dipped in paint to "stamp" petals onto the paper. It made some cute flowers. You could probably use other things instead of buttons. Then they used yarn to make the stems.
Years ago, I had my Sunday school kids paint the little wooden boxes they sell at Michael's. Then we put a Hershey's Kiss inside with a note each kid wrote for his/her mom :)
I still use mine for earrings and small jewelry.
We just did this patch! For our troop we used empty soda cans to plant flowers in. They are really cute! Since you're doing it this weekend, it maybe hard to get all those cans, but i'm sure parents would help out.
I cut the top off the can and then put a small ring of duct tape around it just so no one would get cut, then poked three holes in the bottom and put in a plant.
They look so cute!

I like a live plant from a child in the spring.
Maye have each girl decorate a small terracotta pot and then plant a small herb in it.
Ah, Mother's Day. The day of crafts that will fall apart into 30 pieces and leave glitter, pipecleaners and tempura paint flakes in the bottom of our well-meaning boxes full of the same. Despite our attempts, saving them is a fruitless effort; but God forbid we should throw them away!
If I were coordinating this effort, I would try hard to come up with a craft that can be displayed and enjoyed for years. I love the wreaths I keep seeing on Pinterest. There are burlap ones on a wire frame, and some with a simple flower garnish, bow and initial. Beautiful. All sorts of crafts can be made from coffee filters... you can make really cute flowers from that. You can have them either use markers or water color paints to color the coffee filter before you do that, and then use water to help the color "flow" .... (may take too long for a 20 minute craft, though, for it to dry)
Also, we made some really cute handprint flowers with our middle school special needs classes.. they came out really nice!

-Make monogrammed stationary. (Buy a pack of plain ivory notecards &
envelopes. Each child can get 5 of each, have them stamp their mom's
first initial on the front of each card. You can make a stamp out of a
potato to save money.).
-Make a key chain that says I heart Mom.
-Make a pencil holder. You can use an can, take label off, put something
on rim so nobody can get cut.
-Use old mason mars to make something. Paint the outside. They can be
for loose change etc.
Buy small flower pots and have the girls paint them, then put in some potting soil and flower seeds. My class just did that this week and they loved painting and planting.
Hand print flowers with a cute poem or saying. I like the hand print things because it is fun to remember how little their hands were .
They have small wooden photo frames at Michaels, hobby lobby etc. They can be decorated with markers, or glitter etc. Make them and stick in a photo of the little one. It will be a hit
