Mouth Blisters - Wilkes Barre,PA

My daughter is almost 4 years old has blisters in her bottom lip for months now. They do not seem to hurt her but if one goes away another one or two replace it. Her doctor originally said it could be hand foot mouth but after not going away he gave her Acyclaveir which she finished a week ago ... Still no change! He recommended I call a dermatologist to look at it. Does ANYONE have any ideas?

What can I do next?

My son and daughter both get "blisters" of sorts on their lips when they eat foods that they are either allergic or intolerant of. I would definitely suggest seeing an allergist (maybe the one recommended below)... and a resource that has been extremely helpful to us has been the Dr. Sears "Baby Book". You can find that at any baby store or book store, and it has a lot of info on childhood sickness, how to bulls-eye food problems, suggestions for sleeping... bonding... tracking development, etc. Hope that's helpful!

aw, poor lil one...i have no clue but my intial thought was could it be acidity? Perhaps an acid reflux in her mouth causing the blister? I hope you find the answer quickly.

I have heard of this happening as a result of eating citrus. Does that sound like something that is possible for her?

There is a GREAT allergy/immunology doc at children's. Dr. Stukus. I would actually recommend all of the doctors in the practice. Possibly it is viral and could last a while, or an allergy. Either way they would be better suited to diagnose than a ped.Hope this helps!

Hi A.:

Ask your doc to refer you to a dermatologist or and allergy doc.

Good luck. D.

Are they just small white-ish kind of holes? My family gets these and we call them canker sores, I'm not sure if that is the official term or not. There is an over the counter med for them, but usually drinking milk and trying not to bite you lip helps.
