Moving from Potty Chair to Toilet

Definately see what hes up for. You can get a new seat similar to a Potty Pal, where it has an additional flip down piece (its all attached) for a kiddie size seat (So it has the lid, a kiddie seat and the adult one all hinged together)

Then definately have a step stool for at the toilet, and if needed, another at the sink. It can get to be alot of stuff..but the more you keep him independent, the better for all of you!

I do home childcare, but do all I can to train at the regular toilet and without rings, etc if I can. I train kids young (22-28 mos)...sometimes it works according to my plan....sometimes they want the assistance pieces.

We also got a step stool and toilet ring after the little potty. I would ask him his thoughts/comfort level to gauge if he is agreeable to the idea or scared of the big, noisy toilet...

We used a potty ring and kept it next to the toilet.

A small step stool helps too b/c kids feel more secure if their feet can touch the ground or the stool. :)

We are in the middle of transitioning our nearly 3 yo boy to the big potty w/ toilet ring. He's mastered using the little potty and we feel it's time he gets used to the real thing (particularly when it comes to going in public restrooms.) We put the little potty away and brought out the toilet ring insert that's removable and a step stool. He now does all the steps himself and is doing very well. I say buy an insert and see how it goes! Chances are he'll do fine if he's mastered his little potty. Good luck!
