Hi Ladies,

Well, after almost 7 yrs in Kennesaw because of my husbands work we need to move over to the Stone Mtn area. I have looked at the school by the website (Annistown Elem) which is the one my children will go to and I was hoping some of you may have some information about the Stone Mtn area places to go (little diners, etc. other then stone mtn the park places for the kids to have fun at). I was also hoping if anyone had experienced that Elem school maybe they could give me some advise even send a personal message if need be about anything like ( the school welcomes parents to volunteer, they work well with the PTA,) because I read the principals letter to the school in January and well she really gave it to parents about kids not doing homework and parents blaming the teachers etc. ( my children are A maybe one b or two type students this would not be an issue for me but after reading it I am a bit concerned about the school meaning the teachers and parents relationship the blame game and the principal etc. worried I may be making a bad choice for my kids attending this school like the house but if school is the pits who cares about the house). School is from 8:50 am to 3:20 so kids don't have much of a life I have not be excited about the 7:00am bus in Cobb county and school starts at 7:50 but hey school is out at 2:15 or so all I know is my kids are home at 2:32pm everyday and the time isn't bad I can still take them to dental appts etc. so I'm a bit worried about the 3:20pm thing next yr I have a child that is getting braces this summer and he will have some appts to go to next yr.
Thanks for any info about the school or area.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wish i would of had a few more ladies that viewed this site that had experience at this school. Have made a visit anything new is always can make anyone a bit nervous. We are finishing the year at our school we are currently at because of the CRCT test and moving would make it to hard for everyone. We look forward to our new place and our neighbors have already stopped in (a few) and welcomed my husband which was very nice. I look forward to working with the PTA and making new friends....my children look forward to a new school year with a later school start time, making new friends and moving into a house that's a bit bigger with a pool....thanks to you that responded I look forward to being a new neighbor.

I grew up in that area and went to shiloh high (91). It used to be the top high school and a great area, but I wouldn't go back there now. The teachers I know all left Shiloh for other schools. All my friends' parents from growing up have moved away. You might want to look farther out 78 into Loganville or the other side of 78 from Shiloh in the Parkview and Brookwood school districts. Good luck.

Hello B. F.
We welcome you to the Stone Mountain area, an easy access to everything. Both of my sons attended Annistown Elementary School. One from 1st to 5th grade and the other from 3rd to 5th grade. The school have always been one of the schools of excellence. The teachers are great and my sons love it. They are now at the high and middle schools in the area doing quite well.
