My son went cold turkey on me at 8 months. It was really tough for me emotionally and physically because although he was ready I guess I was not. He didn't cut his first tooth until he was 10 months old. Good Luck.
I breast feed my daughter 4 times a day and give her solids 3 times a day. This morning I b.f. her at 7:00 a.m. like normal. Then at the 11:00 feeding I have been trying to get her to drink from a sippy cup. I gave her 3 oz. of my milk then I B.F. well today she would not B.F. so I figured she got enough from the sippy cup. But then at the 3:00 feeding she cried and would not B.F. and then again tonight when i tried to b.f. her and put her to bed she had the biggest fit crying. So i gave her 4 oz. in the sippy cup and she went right to sleep. Does anyone think this could be a teething thing? Or did she just go cold turkey on me? I figured she would still keep the 7:00 pm. feed just to relax herself but maybe not. Anyone had a simmilar experiance? Thanks for you reply!

I would just say she perfers the cup and be happy thats a battle you don't have to fight in a few months I would NOT put her on formula I would pump breast if you want her to continue to have it but shes plenty old enough for cows milk. I started introducing cows milk @ 10 months with all 3 of my boys if she can't tolerate it theres soy milk right there on the shelf. If your really concerned call her doctor but I'm sure your doing great with her just make sure she gets plenty to eat and drink just like you and me !
my little girl did the same thing in between 9-10 months. Just one day she woke up and decided she didn't want to breastfeed anymore. I was a little sad because I really wanted to feed her until she was a year. i pumped for a couple weeks, but I wasn't pumping enough so I just switched to formula for about a month. But look on the bright side, some people have a horrible time getting their child to wean, so that's one less battle you have to face.
Hi L.,
I was a first time Mom at 34 so I can relate! Both my girls went cold turkey on me. My first at 14 months and my second at 10 months. Part of the reason is they were probably more satisfied with the solids than my milk. I didn't know then what I know now and my milk was not as nutritious as I would have thought. Both have turned out fine and both eat well to this day. They are vegetable kids and don't eat a lot of junk.
I don't know if this helps or not but it broke my heart when they stopped!!!

They do things like that...just be glad you wont have to go thru the frustration of weining and hope she is as easy with everything else. I think I would stop trying to get her to nurse again...if she is getting what she needs from the sippy cup.
When that happened to me, I found out I was pregnant and everything was going to the new baby. Now I have two girls, eighteen months and one week apart. Hope this helps.
Hi L..
Some babies do self-wean although it is rare. She might be on a little nursing strike. My son used to do that. I would keep offering her the breast. Is it possible that your supply is a little low? Maybe she is not getting as much and thta is making her unhappy? Eat some oatmeal and drink more water. That will help.
I weaned both of my children at 12 months. As they ate more solids, they nursed less. By 11 months or so they were only nursing when they wokeup and right before bedtime.
Please let me know if I can offer any other advice!
