My 2 Year Old Won't Stop Drooling

My son Aiden is 2 years and 5 months. He has had a drooling problem since he was just a few months old. It got worse when he was teething or when he has been sick. Normally he is an average healthy two year old but is constantly drooling. I have to change his shirt at least 3 times a day. I have tried to teach him to wipe his mouth when he feels the drool slipping out but that only works if I remind him. If anyone has any suggestions or great tips on how to stop the drooling please share!

I've actually never heard of a kid his age drooling "so much" I would have to suggest talking to your pediatrician. If you just let this continue it may lead to other kids teasing him as he gets older. But, also you need to know if this is a medical problem. Good Luck

i would first rule out medical things.take him to an ears, nose & throat doctor to rule out any problems with his swallowing.also, this is a leap but my son drooled for a while, his problem is he has mild autism.talk to ur pediatrician.he might ask u questions on his milestones,do a physical and make necessary referrals.

I am not sure if it is the same thing but my nephew drooled when he was that age and actually until he was 3 1/2. He is 5 now and has stopped, at the time it was happening I don't think he knew he was doing it. I would ask the peditrician to make sure there is nothing else that could be causing this but it could be something that he needs to grow out of.

My son is almost two and has the same problem. I notice an increase when he's teething and or has an ear infection. I've spoken to his doctor and she says not to worry that his milestones are right on track and that everyone is different. I'm not negating what the other responses said, and I would ask your doctor if you are concerned, but just remember everyone is different. Here's to lots of laundry and bibs messing up the cute outfits! I feel your pain!

I think that this maybe something that he have to grow out of. Hes probably also about to cut his molars too. as someone else previously mentioned use the bibs with the plastic back. He will eventually grow out of it.

Well I wore bibs that had the backing on them so that his shirt didn't get wet through out the day. I had to change my sons bib like 5 times a day or more. He drooled so bad. He finally has quit after he got his 2nd molars. That is probably your problem....My son drooled from the time he started to cut teeth till just about 6 months ago! It will pass with time, just use bibs that have backing so it doesn't hurt his skin.
