My 27 Month Old Keeps Having Diarrhea

I have a call in to the dr but would like your advice. My extremely healthy 27 month old has been having diarrhea for the last 3-4 days. Not constant. Only 2 times a day usually, once when he first gets up and usually one other time in the afternoon or evening. We have always battled constipation, so this seems pretty unusual for him. He hasn't ran a fever, is eating wonderfully, drinking plenty, playing well, and hasn't said or acted like he feels bad at all. We haven't changed anything we are feeding him. He is allergic to milk and eggs so he only drinks soy milk so it can't be the dairy products. I have given him a banana every day this week and he drinks no juice and I have tried to limit all the fiber for the last couple days. Should I be concerned about this, and any ideas on what might be causing it?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I talked to the dr and she said there is a bug going around and that as long as he is feeling well, we shouldn't start any meds. We will stay away from fruits (except bananas) for the weekend, and just watch him. He is not contageous, which I am glad about. Thanks for all of your advice.

There has been a viral infection going around recently. My daughter just got over it. My neighbor's kids all had it (diagnosed as the flu, upper resporatory infection, bronchitis, etc.). And I finally got it, where it chose to settle in my eye of all the unusual places. There wasn't much the doctors can give. But they did tell us to keep our daughter on the BRAT diet to help ease the diarrhea. (Bananas, Rice, Apples, and Toast (or Tea for adults)). Yogurt also helps. He told us to cut back on the milk for a few days too. Our doctor said it can take anywhere from 5 to 7 days to clear up and as long as she isn't getting worse, we don't need to worry.

Bananas are SUPPOSED to be the cure all for diarrhea but I have met several people that it has just the opposite affect on them- that could be it! :)
just keep the water flowing and halt the bananas- bet that works!

May be just a little bug. My doctor said to stop diarrhea you can eat a green banana. Just one...
My son does this occasionally, he's three, I'll feed him part of the banana and then he's fine.

I had a similar problem... Cut diary products for awhile, it may be a milk allergy. As it was the case with my son.
