My 3 Year Old Son

My three year old son has been complaining of a belly ache and I just have him relax for a while. He's normally fine after that, but about 30 minutes or so later he complains that his butt hurts. When I check to see if he had an accident, I see water. Well I think it's water. My husband smelled it and said that's what it smells like. I just want to know if that is okay. Also, he has a rash on his butt that he has had for a long time now, probably since I potty trained him almost a year ago. It doesn't bother him and all of my kids have had problems with rashes but sometimes his does flare up and start to hurt him. Nothing that the doctors have given me have helped. Please let me know of any suggestions. I just want my son to be okay.

What can I do next?

Why don't you take him to the Doctor?
He has had this problem for a long time.... already.

Belly aches can be due to many things.
And his butt pain.
And you see liquid on his underpants.
And he has a rash on his butt.

The only thing you can do is take him to the Doctor, to get a proper diagnosis and see what is wrong.

Assuming you are checking his pants and they are wet, I don't see how it could just be water. Is he drinking a lot and then making large amounts of really diluted urine? Could he be constipated? Or have urinary tract issues? Have you only talked to the doctors about the rashes and not the tummy aches? Because I am thinking you should probably take him back to the doctor again - nobody can make a diagnosis over the computer.

Could be constipated...super common this time of year because kids don;t sweat so they don;t drink as much water.

Try Miralax - one capfull in any type of bevearge except milk...mix until dissolved you won't even taste it. Do it daily for a couple weeks...It will clear right up.

I agree with the other about him being constipated. My daughter had similar issues(bellyaches, butt hurts, having pee accidents) and thats all related to constipation. Our dr prescribed mirlax.. Try to have your child drink more water, and less drinks with sugar. I kknow kids at that age really probably prefer drinks that taste good, but once we stopped giving our daughter so much gatorade, she seemed to do a little better...... But definatly see your own personal dr, I think.
About the rash, is her wearing pullups at night? If so, my children would ALWAYS get a rash on their bottom from were the pullup was, and that could be just from sitting in urine all night. Try Eucrin (sp) cream.

I don't know what to tell you on the rash other than some good lotion, but for the belly, my 2.5 yo has been saying the same thing lately. It may or may not be from eating too much or having to go to the bathroom, as he doesn't understand his body enough to tell us. I tried to get him to tell me what it felt like last night, but all I go was , "It feels like an owie".

He's probably unable to digest milk/soy proteins. Take him off all dairy and products that have soy, soy lecithin in them. You will see huge differences in a few days to a few weeks. ALso put him on a probitotic you can get online called I-Flora For Kids.

Time for a trip to the pediatrician! If is belly is hurting with some consistency it could be an allergy or something else, but it's not typical so, have it checked out! What concerns me too is the body fluid-

Sounds gross, but keep a pair of his undies in a ziploc and take it with you to the pediatrician! I would also suggest keeping some kind of journal...
- What he ate and at what time
- Time of his belly complaint
- Pants check

Could be nothing or it could be something- talk with the doctor!

I would call the pediatrician's nurse for advice or try Googling his issue to see if there's anything that would cause the liquid, perhaps the rashes are blistering and/or oozing and that is the liquid you are seeing?

What are you feeding him? Sounds like he is having trouble digesting whatever he is eating.
If we can get rid of toxins via the liver kidneys colon we do- if you get a rash then it makes sense to check what you are eating, becaues the skin is a large organ of excreation which is used if the other pathways are overwhelmed.
And if it is a family problem then really it is time to assess your diet. Weston Price will give you good ideas, Adele Davis, tho out of print is worth tracking down for in put. That Eat Right 4 Your Blood type is another great reference.
MDs generally don't know about diet, so you won't find out there.
best, k

I am a beliver in Ginger Ale for tummy troubles. I am not sure about the rash my self, but keep a close eye on him (I am sure you are). If his poor little tummy hurts he might start gerring sick. Also can he tell you where the pain is? If it near his navel I would be worried that it could be appendix. I dont watn to worrie you, I am jsut saying it something to keep inmind. Probly he jsut need a day or 2 of rest, a little ginger ale, and the best med of all, His mommys love.
