Ice it as best you can. My daughter fell on her mouth at the age of one. She already had her front teeth and knocked them right back into the gum. I thought they broke off, but they were still there and fine. Her lip busted and the ER did give her one stitch. Months later her teeth came back down and then I was told to watch for them going grey or black. She sees the dentist every 6 months and she is now going to be five and he doesn't say anything about them. However, people have noticed her teeth are discolored. If anything, I would call a pediatric dentist and ask or take him to his PED. I am sure he will be fine.

If YOU think it is bad trust your instinct. I can't see it to tell you what I think, but he's 6 months old, and it is best to err on the side of caution. If you think it looks bad and are asking if you should take him to see a doctor, be safe, and take him to see a doctor.

Those mouth injuries can look really bad and bleed a lot, I know. Chances are he will be fine. My son has never been very steady on his feet and has fallen or bumped into something (usually a wall) and hurt his mouth a number of times . His teeth have all come in and they are straight. Just keep applying cold compresses to take down the swelling.

Take him in. Trust your instincts. Even if there is nothing wrong, you'll feel better having an expert opinion.

Hello,
I would highly suggest you take your son to the dentist for xrays. Though he doesn't have teeth showing, however, they are awaiting to appear inside of his gums & a hard hit could possibly cause problems. It is always better to be safe then sorry later.

I hope this helps & good luck.

Why sit there and worry? Take him into urgent care. They can tell you if a visit with a pediatric dentist is in order.

my sister fell before she had any teeth and ended up damaging the bud of her front tooth, she's now 16 and has an indent in the permanent tooth and it didnt come in correctly. my mom just called the dentist when it happened and they said bring her in just in case to look at it as there could be long term damage. i suggest calling a dentist, probably one you wouldnt mind taking him to see.

Take him to the pedi, better safe than sorry. Even though he hit on his mouth, he may need to be assessed for head injury.

I would take him to a dentist. My son did the same thing when he was about 9 months old and hit his 2 front teeth. Some tooth pulp came out of the gums; it looked like a big blood blister. The dentist removed it and told me what to look for in the future in case the tooth began to die. Apparently if their baby teeth are significantly damaged it can cause problems with their adult teeth too. My son's tooth ended up being fine and I'm sure yours will be too, but for peace of mind you should go.
