Hi Moms! My son (6yo) is tired of playing soccer and would like to try playing football. Are there any teams/leagues out there for kids this young? Thanks!
Thanks ladies for the info! It was so ironic...my son brought home a flyer from school yesterday for NYS! I've signed him up for flag football :o)
Check out www.ccvstars.com I know they have football and I think they start at that age, I know their soccer starts at 4, just checkit out.
Arizona Youth Football League (AYF). They are VERY good. My son played for them and I highly recommend them!!!
My almost 6 year old is currently playing flag football with i9 sports, www.i9sports.com . It's my first experience w/youth football for him but it seems to be a really well run program and my son loves it. It's only a 1 day a/week commitment so it's a good place to start. I believe they are going to have a summer league with Monday evening games in Phoenix. For the future we are also looking into moving him into the Pop Warner flag program once he gets closer to the age where he can transition into tackle.

My son played football for 2 different leagues in Mesa for 10 years - he LOVED it! He's not super athletic or skilled, but I chose these leagues because they have minimum play requirements for all kids. That way you are sure your son gets to play in every game instead of just watching the "star" kids.

You don't mention whether he is interested in Flag Football or Tackle. At age 6 he is probably only eligible for Flag, which is what we did to be sure our son was ready before he played tackle.
Also, I think both leagues play by address, so you can go through their sites and see which area he would be playing in. I think they are both holding enrollments in the next few weeks.
