hi mom, i am still breastfeeding and i wasnt able to bring it up to breastfeed 100% so i am doing 50% milk and 50% formula, trying to give my baby solids since she was 5 months, now she is almost 9 months and still nothing. a few weeks ago its look like she likes oatmeal, rice,.......but slowly she stopped and now she doesnt want anything from baby food, but when she sees me or anybody else eating she wants everything from our plate so i did try to puy her food on out plate but nothing, and because of my milk supply are week by week smaller and smaller i wish she would eat some solids, what to do?

What can I do next?

My baby didn't want to take to baby food until 10 months. My doctors said that is was fine. She would get all the nutrition she needs from the milk she was getting. Just wait a while and try again. Good luck 8-)

Offer it to her and do not force her. I suggest that if she is not going to eat what is offered to make her wait (not long) but for a few min after you are done eating to feed her if she is not going to eat what is given to her. You are doing a good job just keep it up and keep trying.
ps do not get frustrated she will do it when she is ready but i think by making her hold off you will show her that if she is going to be difficult that you are not going to bend over backwards to please.

Hey Kika,
Have you tried the mesh feeders yet? Our gut wasn't too keen on baby food so we gave him our food, but in the mesh feeder. He has a hearty appetite and will eat ANYTHING. I am hoping that this means that he won't be a fussy eater.

Well, as long as she's not allergic to the foods, try giving her what you're having - just mashed, cut up really tiny, and cooked soft. Some babies just have a texture issue. Keep trying. Babies won't starve themselves and as long as you make healthy foods available she will eventually try them....and maybe even like them!

She can try your food as long as it is cooked soft and cut or mashed well.

Have you tried rice krispie cereal or wet cheerios. My daughter loves them. she started solids at 8 months. My son at 4 months. Each child is different. Try different things. My daughter never ate rice cereal or oatmeal cereal. Try yogurt, chicken in tiny pieces, etc. Just a few small pieces. Give her what you are eating and see if she likes that. Skip the babyfood for now and offer it later when she starts eating other stuff.

have you tried giving her "safe" finger foods? like cheerios and the like? My youngest did not like the pureed stuff either. She wanted to eat our food from 9 months. So I just gave her basic foods one at a time, watching for allergies. after a while she was eating lots of soft foods, like pasta, cottage cheese, cooked veggies, soft fruit, avocados and stuff like that. she wanted to feed herself. What a mess. I literally would push her high chair into the bathroom and hose her and the chair down after meals. She is 5 now and still pretty messy, and also very independent. She probably wants the good stuff. Give it a try (but still be careful not to feed her anything that is not recommended before 12 months like eggs and strawberries and watch out for allergies!)

food is just for fun at this age so don't force it. Nutrition comes mainly from breastmilk/formula for the first year so don't worry if she doesn't want it. You could try cutting some things into small pieces like well cooked veggies and some nice ripe fruits.

I agree, keep trying,......she is old enough for a french fry, just keep an eye on her.......and try teething crackers, and any food you eat that is soft.....mashed potatoes, roast cut in small, small pieces....etc........She'll find something she likes........my daughter loved spaghetti and hot dogs!!

Good Luck and hang in there.
