My Daughter Is 6 and Needs Tubes in Her Ears Again?

My next to the youngest grandson was found to be deaf. He didn't even respond to the bass drum being banged behind his head. The ENT put tubes in to see if it would help him hear better. When he went in the ear canal he found debris from ear infections that antibiotics had not touched. He cleaned out so much goo.....it took nearly an hour extra.

Once he came out of surgery he could hear and has been able to hear just fine since. The tubes do work themselves out. It is just part of the growing process.

I say get them done and see if it helps.

Have you tried removing dairy from her diet and taking her to a chiropractor? I've seen chiropractic care for around three months help all kids except one out of maybe ten.

my youngest son had tubes put in 3 times from age 3 to 6. His hearing was described by our doctor, about the same as your daughters. And yes, he has outgrown it all. He is 13 now and hears fine. But he still struggles a lot at school, especially reading. But try to be positive, every kid has a struggle in some form or other, try not to think of it so negative. Just help her along as best as you can and work with the school, so they are helping her too so she won't get behind. It will be okay.

My son has a hearing loss. It is amazing how they compensate. there is plenty they do not catch, but, they learn techniques to fill in the gaps. those are great questions .

I am sure if not all , probably all of her hearing will return.

What are the Doctors expectations?
What should you do to help your daughter to prepare?

What should you be looking for ?, her reactions, pain, recovery , amount of improvement of her hearing.

What about swimming this summer?

I also would inform her teachers, so they can move her in class to help her hear. I know at our daughters elementary school they had head phones for 2 students that were having troube paying attention. The teacher wore a microphone so these children could rally focus on what she was saying.. Maybe your childs shcool has something they can use to assist your daughter,.

Good for you! Many people forget everything when the doctor tells them something startling. You're making a good comeback by writing everything down that you think of. Pick his brains! No question is too small or too stupid.
