My Daughter Keeps Vomiting and She Hasn't Had a WET DIAPER in 2 Days.

I really need some good advice. My daughter has been vomiting all day. She has vomited 5 times today, and couple of times yesterday. She has not had a wet diaper. I called the doctor and told them about it, they said someone would call me back. About an hour later she vomited again and they still did not call back. I start to get really scared and I just took her to the doctor. I was freaking out, crying, shaking and I demanded to see a doctor. They thought I was an idiot. They checked her out and said she was fine and that she proably just had some kind of bug. She has no other symptoms of being sick. She is not acting like she is sick at all. I asked to see the Attending, she came in and she was very helpful. She was worried because Lillian has not had a wet diaper. They ended up putting catheder in her and getting an urine sample. The test came back a little weird and they are sending it off to another lab. After that they were glad I brought her in. We will not get this lab back for a few days. There could be a possibility she has a stomach flu, a bladder infection, or something wrong with her kideneys. If the test does come back positive we will have to go get more tests and an ultra sound done. It is freaking me out. They told me to give her pedialyte, she will not take it. It's 10 hours later and she still has not had a wet diaper. I feel like I should take her to the emergency room. My husband doesn't think we should. I don't know what to do?? My husband is in med school and he thinks knows everything when it comes to Lillian's health. The Dr we saw today his one of his professors and he really looks up to her.

What can I do next?

I've haven't gone through this, but I'd take her to the emergency room. I'm sure she's dehydrated and miserable. Listen to your mommy inside voice and do what you think is best. Sometimes going to a different doctor is a good thing....the problem can get a fresh set of eyes on it. Better safe then sorry. Good luck.

S.,
I hope you and Lillian are feeling better. Good for you for demanding to see the attending. NEVER ignore your intuition, especially when it comes to your baby. You are her #1 advocate. You go mama. For your future reference: The pedialyte tastes gross. My pediatrician in LA (we moved, obviously) suggested any flavor gatorade diluted half and half with water. My boys won't lip the pedialyte but love the dilulted gatorade. Also, really cold ice water sometimes works. Good luck.

It definitely sounds like she is dehydrated - I have been through this with both of my kids. If she will not drink any flavor of pedialyte, I would agree with the previous poster and take her to a hospital... they may have to put her on IV fluids. Good luck!
