Hi! My husband is on his feet almost every day for hours, working hard at Home Depot. His feet are killing him. Can you recommend a good shoe brand? I've heard good things about the enclosed Crocs. Any insight?

Thanks so much, your replies are always so helpful! :)

Crocs rock! Also, I have found that Earth Shoes have totally saved me, and have eliminated my back pain. They are around $100, but totally worth it. I have 2 pairs of Earth Shoes and that's all I wear to work. The rest of the time I wear Birkinstocks.
There's a great store that has all of those brands on Mockingbird between 75 & Greenville Ave: Whole Earth Provision.

Good luck!

You should have your husband try Merrell's these are probably the only brand that my late husband would wear when he was on his feet all day as an AV Installer, they will provide his feet with enough cushion, to work effectively, and great back support. You can find them at the Walking Store, I believe there is one at Northpark. Fair warning you may not be able to get him out of his shoes.

Hi, i work for a foot & ankle orthopedic specialist. New balance shoes are really great shoes, we recomend them all of the time! He might also need foot orthotics in the shoes. You can get those at any store unless he needs special made ones.

I think new balance are great tennis shoes as well -- I have major feet issues -- and they are the best tennis shoe that I have found.

I have also bought the dress crocs -- which I think you are talking about -- but for women. They sort of look like dress shoes. I loved them. I teach financial planning classes and stand on my feet for 8 hours teaching. The only problem was that they have a strap on them and the strap broke after about 4 months of use. But they only cost me $30 so I wasn't that annoyed. I don't know about the mens version.

My fiance works at The Depot too. I totally understand. He has flat feet and bum knees so he needed lots of help and support and steel toes. We went with Red Wings. They're not cheap, but they're worth it and a lot of people on their feet and working in shops wear them and they have all kinds of different styles and colors. http://www.redwingshoes.com/ I see now that several people mentioned NB also and I've heard wonderful things about them. They are just tennies though, so if he works in a department like lumber and building materials (and comes home with wood dust and concrete all over him) the Red Wing brand is very sturdy and long lasting. Kevin's had his for about a year now and still going strong, 6 months of that he was in lumber and building materials, the last 6 months he's been a department head of plumbing but wears them outside of work a lot too!

My honey is in Carrollton, how about yours? Welcome to Dallas!

Go to On The Run. They fit you. My husband is on his feet quite a bit and he gets his shoes there for comfort.

Try new balance. I heard they are great for long distant runners, must have good cushion.

My husband worked on his feet a lot and always loved Nike Air running shoes. They seemed to have the support that was just right for him. Probably the brand isn't so important...they just happened to be a good fit for him. I imagine it is the support of running shoes that really matters.

My husband works at the American Airlines Center as a Supervisor and is on his feet all day and on concrete at that, we went through several shoes but he researched online and found that Ecco's are the best, I mean he would say something about his feet everyday and how bad they hurt and would even get sores on his feet, so we went to Dillards and got these Echo's they are black, but I think they have brown too. Anyway he wears these everywhere even with his blue jeans, he says there is never a reason to get any other type of shoe. I just want to tell you that my husband will research and research before he buys something, he is weird like that, but i have to tell you it is great not having him complain about his feet everyday, I think we paid about $170.00 after tax but they were well worth the money spent, trust me!! Here is a link to the Dillards site showing the shoes, they are dressy but they look good with jeans too, http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?view=20...#
I think he got the Berlin Seam-Toe Slip-Ons. Good luck!

Santa Barbara, huh? My dad taught his sabbatical in SB when I was a "tween" and we watched the Green Bay packers practice somewhere by the ocean.

Anyway -- about shoes. My husband is in outside sales and is on the concrete as well all day. He will only buy Rockport shoes because they have better support and look nice as well. The other thing is that the hard daily routine is tough on shoes as well and so it doesn't pay to buy really expensive shoes just to have them torn up in six months or less. For the money invested we've not found a better over-all work shoe than Rockport. Be advised ... you can purchase varied levels of these shoes, from Kohl's, JC Penney's, or other locations. Just like you can buy a "rib-eye steak" from Golden Corral it won't be the quality you can purchase from the Chop Block. My suggestion is that you go to a Rockport location and then try out some of the other locations to see if the price makes a difference. We usually spend $70 - $90 for a pair from JC Penney's and they will last roughly 6 months.

Try this locater: http://maps.where2getit.com/maptools/geoproc.cgi/rockportus

I hope that helps.

I used to work on my feet so I can relate. I am most comfortable in my "MBT's." They are a bit pricey but are worth the investment. Mine have lasted at least 3 years! They help with foot, back, and knee fatigue as well as improving posture. Good Luck!

My husband is diabetic and having some foot problems. His doctor told him that the best shoe for him to wear since he is on his feet all day at work is New Balance.
Don't wear skechers....they are the worst. They offer little or no support to the foot. New Balance have been the best by far. You can usually find them on sale and I think they have their own store somewhere locally.

There is a Croc stand in the middle of the Parks Mall in Arlington. If they don't have the enclosed shoes, they will order them for you. Good luck!!! Also, Dockers has good work shoes, and they are cute.
