My daughter also had several cavaties when she was five. The dentist first tried to fill them with just numbing the mouth. She was terrified and was shaking before he even began! We decided to put her under general anesthesia so she would not be afraid of the dentist for life. Without going under it would take 2 or 3 visits this way he did it all in one shot, and my daughter never even realized what was going on. It was totally safe, and I am glad we did it this way! I was with her when she fell asleep and woke up. When we came home she took was a little sleepy. By 4:00 she was back to her normal self. I believe this was the best way to go about filling the cavaties without scaring her! Let me know if you have any questions,
Our dentist also sealed her teeth while she was there. She has not had any cavaties since then.
