Hi K.,

Lots of Luck.
Hi Moms! Does anyone know what would cause this? In July, my son (who is 3 1/2) cut his skin just under his eye and we had to go to the ER to have them use Dermabond to glue the skin back. It has healed nicely except now there is this little whitehead looking bump, like a stye, right on the scar. There also looks like there may be other skin colored bumps too, but there are barely visbale. Has anyone seen this before?

Hi K.!
It is possible that the scar tissue may have formed a granuloma, or it may be a whitehead as you suggest. Of course you want to take him to the doctor ASAP to make certain that it is not a staph boil. They are very common in children of all ages, if it is a staph infection, though it could potentially cause him alot of grief. Staph can get into organs and bloodstream not to mention the profound scarring it is known to leave.
Good for you for being a strng advocate of your son's health/ That's what great mommies do!
My best to you both!

my daughter has skin colored bumps on her face. not many of them, but a few, and they are a type of wart. they are sort of flat, and not that noticeable unless you get close to her face. the dr. said not to do anything about them bc any kind of treatment would leave a scar.
Hi K.,
I definitely agree that you should have the doctor take a look at it. I did want to let you know that there are small white hard bumps called milia that can appear near the eye. My daughter had her first one about 6 months ago and it took about a month to go away. She has another one now. The pediatrician explained that they are harmless, there really isn't anything you can do, and they eventually just go away on their own. My best friend still gets them from time to time as an adult. Whatever you do, don't try to squeeze it, and definitely check in with the doctor, but hopefully it's something simple like this!
My 3 1/2 yr old son fell in a parking lot and skinned his knee back in July. He did not need stitches, thankfully. However, he now has a very similar little "whitehead-looking" bump right where his scar was. I have been wondering what it was, too. The surrounding skin is in no way reddened or swollen, so I don't think it is infected. I am trying not to worry about it and just ask my pedi when it is time to take him to get his flu vaccine. Let me know what you find out.
