My son wants a bicycle. The problem with this is, he's only 2 years old. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is out there for him, that's not a tricycle. Believe it or not, he knows the difference.
Well it seems that Santa Claus will be bringing him a bicycle this year. I think he's mature enough to be able to ride, and we'll probably end up taking it to a park so that he can do more than one thing if he wants. I don't really trust the parking lot of our apartment complex. There's just too much traffic. Thank you all for your responses! I really appreciate the feedback. Until these responses, I didn't even know there was such a thing as 12" wheeled bikes with training wheels.
A bike was easier for my son than the tricycle. We got him a 12 inch bike from Toys R Us. It was put together and everything for $40. It has training wheels too. He picked it up right away at age 2. It's great exercise for them! WalMart also has little bikes too. I know lots of people who started their kids on bikes at 2. Go for it! Just get a helmet, we had a few crashes at first.
We just got my son a bicycle with training wheels for his 3rd bday but he loved bikes way before that I just felt that he was way to young. So we got hm one of those big wheel plastic bike thing and that kept him happy for a while and gave him the idea of riding. His bday was in february and he is just now starting to peddle on it well but he would rather look at his feet than steer so we are working on that now haha. Just get a helmet and knee and elbow pads and he should be fine on a bicycle! I am a full time UTEP student too!
They have small bicycle that is only ten inches tall it does have trining wheels but they come off. They can ride them till about age three I got my son one when he was 11 months old and they are only twenty dollars.
My boy is very cooridinated, and was really fascinated by bikes, so I got him one on his first birthday. I made sure to get a good one, with very solid training wheels, and I let him practice indoors. It took about a week before he could pedal it and another week before he could pedal and steer at the same time! He stuck with it though, and now, at two, he's a great rider. He loves his bike!

My daughter has one also. I think her is 12" with training wheels. Same thing she started indoors and then moved outs. You can buy it at target or toys r us.Now my daughter is into riding horses. Good luck.
there is a bicycle that is small enough for him because my grandson of 2 1/2 has one. it has training wheels on it also. i'm in phoenix right now nad i don't know where his mother got it. but i'm sure walmart or kmart would have them. kk
We got our middle son a 12" bike w/ training wheels at age 2. He did great. He was riding w/out training wheels at age 4. For his 5th b-day we just git him a 16" bike w/ pegs and everything (although he doesn't know what to do w/ them yet).
