I just thought I would ask you ladies what your schedule was like for fun. I swear I remember hearing somewhere that the 'norm' was to only have one nap a day for a baby from about 15 months. My schedule totally works for us (baby and me) but I was curious to see what works for others. Currently my DD wakes up around 7 or 7:30am and is almost always ready for an AM nap about 2 to 2 and a half hours after waking. Her AM nap will be on average an hour to an hour and a half and then she will most likely be ready for another nap around 1:30pm to 2:30 pm and this nap will also be about an hour to an hour and a half. I really cant see her at 14 months being able to last long enough in the morning to only have one nap a day but thats just me. I was just curious to see if any other Mommies out there have a toddler that is able to work off of just one nap a day.

What can I do next?

My 13 month old just switched to one nap. I could tell because he fought the am nap, and when I could get him to go down, would only sleep for 15 or 20 minutes.

She'll let you know when she is ready.

My son transitioned to just one nap a day around 14 months, he was NEVER a good napper so I was kind of relieved to only have to fight him down once a day haha

He's 27 months now and has always slept 12-13.5 hours a night (and a 1.5-2.5 hour nap during the day) so I guess he never really needed a whole lot of daytime sleep. Let her take 2 naps as long as you can, that free time during the day is amaaaazing!

My son, for the 1st year, napped 3 times a day.
Then when he was 2, he went from 3 naps to 2 naps.
Then when he was 3, he went from 2 naps to 1 nap.
Now at 4 years old, he still naps 1 time a day in the afternoon.
If not, he gets fussy and turns into a TROLL by evening, and gets major overtired, which makes him overly Hyper.
He still goes to bed just fine at 8:30pm.

My son, regardless of age, has always napped 2 hours. More at growth-spurts. He is very regular.

I always went by his cues. It is a daily routine. No battles.

I am always home, at my kids nap times. They are not portable nappers. Will not nap, anywhere except at home, no matter how tired they are.

all the best,
Susan

My 9 month old only takes one nap a day. She wakes up around 8:00, naps for 1-2 hours around 12:00, and goes to bed at 9:00. Doesn't seem like much sleep to me, but she gets MAD if I try to get her to sleep any more than that. lol.

My 14 month old has been napping once daily for about a month now. He sleeps at night from about 8 pm to 7 am. I put him down for a nap at around 11 am and he sleeps for about 2 1/2 hours. It seems to be working for him right now. I'll probably start pushing nap time back when I feel he can stay awake longer in the mornings. All babies are different, though. If yours is sleeping well through the night, it sounds like your doing pretty well. Is this your first child?

My little girl kept with that morning nap until about 15.5 months-but it was never very long. She started to protest that nap and even though she needed it just refused to take it. Her afternoon nap got a little earlier since she was SO TIRED around 11am. This made it a long afternoon BUT now, at 17.5 months, she lasts until after lunch and takes a good nap. Just follow her lead. She will stop taking it when she is ready. Good luck!

7:45: 3 1/2 y.o. wakes up
8:00-9:30: 13 m.o. wakes up
rarely morning nap for baby
2:00-3:30 or 4:00 both nap in their own beds
8:00 both to bed

My oldest slept more at 13 months than my youngest. I think the stimulation of having an older sibling keeps him up. He doesn't want to miss a thing!

my dd was about 18 months old when she dropped her morning nap. She tried to drop her afternoon nap instead but I was having none of that.

1 nap is the norm for 15 mo; my daughter was down to one nap at 14 months. My 13 mo still takes 2, but his morning nap is only 45 mins max, and he's good until 3. I suspect he'll be down to one nap by 15 months at the latest.

BUT, those are my kids, and not yours. Just because it's the norm, doesn't mean it's right for your daughter. You didn't say what time she goes to bed, so I don't know how long she is sleeping at night, but if she is still taking 2 such long naps, she must still need them. Let her dictate how long she needs to nap. As long as she can get to to bed at a decent hour (before 9), then she's okay. As for you, you should count your lucky stars that you have a child that loves to sleep !!!!
