Natural Remedies for Endometreosis

Hi I am a mother of two, and have struggled with endometreosis for about 15 years. I have had a laproscopy and lesions were removed however; now that I am done having children (my tubes are tied) the endometreosis is back and worse than ever. The OB suggested a medication that will put my body in a false menopause and hopefully shrink the tissue, or there is the option of another surgery, or birth control pills. I don't like any of these options and I was wondering if anyone has used any natural remedies with any success. Any suggestions or ideas you have are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

So What Happened?

Nothing has "happened" yet; except that I received some really great advice and some options I had not considered before I posted my request. I have a lot of research to do but now, thanks to everyones thoughtful responses I have a couple of starting points in mind. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond. I am much more hopeful about my situation now.

I am reading a book right now about natural cleanses the basically cure such problems. You should seriously look into a few books. I am learning that overgrowth of yeast cause endometreosis. There is a strict diet you can go on for a 1-6 months depending on the severity. I am reading an excellent book called
THE BIBLE CURE FOR CANDIDA AND YEAST INFECTIONS by DON COLBERT, MD

By no coincidence I have read in about 4 places in one week that wiping out the yeast over growth will bring so many other areas of our health and body back into balance.

also check out the videos on this site --- very informative!

I enjoyed the one on building your herbal medicine cabinet by Sherrie Atilla.

Your definately find a good natural path doctor.

Hi D.,

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I have no gone through it myself, but I have friends who have and I know from their experiences it is painful.

Like I said, I don't have personal experience with this ... but a good friend of mine is a chiropractor. When she was in school and working in a clinic doing her internship she related some stories to me where some of their clients were being treated for various things like infertility and endometriosis through chiropractic and acupuncture therapies. They were seeing success.

I'm saddened that you have some responses here that basically have told you to just give up and allow the doctors to cut you open. I'm not saying that doesn't need to happen...but I commend you for trying to educate yourself on all different options. Many people just don't know about alternative therapies...they've never experienced them so they just assume they don't work and are all too willing to jump on the slice and dice method or pop the pills that the doctors are willing to dole out.

If I were you I would seek out a good naturopath or holistic practicioner. I would investigate acupuncture as well.

There is alot of information out there on alternative therapies. In addition, I would look at that information the other mom mentioned on the candida yeast. It can cause some naties in our bodies. I truly believe you can find some relief in ways other than pills, hormones or surgery. As you know, all of those options come with their own host of side affects and issues. Working WITH your body to promote natural healing is the best way to start. Sometimes we have to turn to western medicine because our bodies just need that extra help....but it should not be the first response.

I hope I've given you some information you can use.

I would suggest you find a naturopathic doctor to help you. There are many natural remidies before you have radical surgery or pump your body full of hormones.

I personally can not take hormones, and I did the 3 pills a day, and the shock your system to think it is in menopause. I changed my diet and that has helped in so many ways! I cut out the dairy and eat whole foods.

Find a professional in your area :)

Oh D., I feel your pain. I too have endometriosis. I had laproscopy too and went through "false menopause". It was BRUTAL! I had the worst hot flashes you can imagine and I cried (actually sobbed) every day, several times a day. I gained a bunch of weight. The whole thing was miserable and I did it for 6 months. I have it back and just am suffering because I'm too young to have a hysterectomy and I couldn't go through that again. So, if you try all else and you and your dr. decide that false menopause is the answer for you, I'm warning you that it is tough. If you find something that works naturally, let me know, will ya?

Thanks,

L.

My mother had, and still has the same problem. She has undrgone several surgeries to remove the adhesions, as well as a histerectomy. Her doctor has put her on an estrogen patch with hopes of it helping, but on top of that she avoids nuts of all kinds, soda, and spicy foods (they irritate the tissue) She also drinks herbal chammoile tea, and rests a warm heating pad on her stomach for 20 minutes each day...we aren't quite certain if this is actually shrinking the tissue..but it seems to help ease the pain.

i hope this helps..

Hello D., My heart goes out to you. I also suffered from the desease. After several years on meds for a false menopause, two laposcopies, and internal bleeding from ruptured blood cysts on the overies, I had a hysterectomy at the age of 29. I am 50 now, and have not had any more problems with endometreosis. I could not take birth control pills due to a history of blood clots. As far as natural treatments, there was no mention of them in my younger days. If I hear of any I will surely let you know. There is however a web site for endometriosis sufferers, I know they would be up to date on any advances of treatment. Good luck. P.S. I had chiropractic visits every week from the age of 18 until my operation. For me this didn't help at all even though it cost me a forture without health insurance.

Hi D.,

Did your doctor tell you that this condition will continue until after menopause? I did take the medication to stop my cycle however, after I came off the medication the tissue grew back a few years later. The tissue did shrink and I did feel better, but I eventualy had to have a hystroectomy. I do not know of any natural remedies how ever try the web site www.dherbs.com and look your systoms up to see if there is anything there for you.

Blessings

One more option you didn't mention, the IUD MIRENA. It is plastic, releases a little progresterone, and lasts for 5 yaers at which time you can have it replaced. It is an alternative to hysterectomy (I also am done having children and not in menopause). I have had great success with it. If your doctor doesn't know about it, get a second opinion. If you want more info on my esperience, send me a message, or look it up on google.

I don't know of any. Your best bet is to have the hysterectomy and keep your ovaries. In a perfect world you wouldn't have to face this question, but alas, you do. Get yourself better and get it over with! It's really easy these days!

People often do not realize how personalized a natural health program needs to be. What someone else may have used for the same problem may not be what you need. Dale and Mollie are wonderful at Healthy for Life.
