Hi! My second baby is due July 2nd (just found out it's a girl!!) and I have a almost 17 month old boy. I really think I'm going to need a double stroller and have NO idea what to get. There are way too many to pick from. I don't know if people prefer front and back double strollers or side by side?? It seems like the front and back ones would be easier to get through isles while shopping? And doorways possibly? Does anyone have any suggestions on which ones are good or which ones to stay away from? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

My mother in law insisted on buying me the Jeep side by side double umbrella stroller because some lady told her it was the best...I never wanted it, but I graciously accepted the gift, my kids are 18 months apart and they will both sit in it, but my older one tends to bug the baby while he's sleeping and takes away his blanket/toy/binky whatever he's playing with. Also, when I'm by myself I can't hold open the door to the mall and push the HUGE stroller in, it's too wide, and it doesn't fit down most narrow isles in stores. On the plus side, it does collapse down very small so it fits into the trunk very easily. It doesn't have any storage space for a diaper bag or anything like that and it is sooo lightweight that it can tip over if you have bags hanging over the handel (which I tend to do constantly b/c I'm a shopaholic) luckily my kids have never been in the stroller when it tipped! I don't know what to tell you, all strollers will have a disadvantage somewhere, just decided what's most important to you and choose as best as you can :)

Hi S.,

3 years ago I invested in a double stroller (stadium seating)and I LOVE it! I bought mine from www.onestepahead.com It was the only one I could find that had a nice big basket on the bottom. Also, I liked that I could make the kids face eachother or have them sit behind the one another. It also has the option to change the back seat into a bassinet for an infant. It is really great! Its not that heavy and it folds right up. I searched and searched until I finally found "the one" (ha ha).. I wish you lots of luck with your search. Check out the website. They seem to have a lot of good (hard to find) stuff.. Congrats on your new baby! ~Marci

I have twins that will be a year in June. I have a double-wide stroller that folds up small and is the best thing that I could have gotten with them. It is a Combi and I got it at Babies R Us for about 200.00 but it is well worth it. I had a front to back one but it was just to hard to move around and get it to go how I wanted it. My 7 year old can push the stroller we have with no problems, I never leave home without it. This stroller is made to fit through doorways and to take on a plain, it's the best!! Good Luck!

My children are 22 months apart, I have a 3 year old and a 15 month old. I bought a double stroller and it is by Jeep and it is side by side, but both seats can recline back. I tried the jogging stroller, it was to much hassle, front wheel doesn't turn. Then I tried the tandem stroller, baby is in front and the toddler is in back, they can stand and look over baby or sit and look at you pushing, that my daughter wasn't so fond of, she always wanted to get up and run away from us. So we settled on the Jeep one, it was less expensive and did what we needed, however, my older child never really wanted to sit in it, she always wanted and wants to walk. So if your child has a mind of his own like my little girl, you might not want the double stroller. But check out the babies r us website and look at all the different strollers. I believe some people actually give their opinions on what they think of them.
Good luck and Congrats on the baby

Hi S.~
I have the Graco Duo Glider which I really like. The kids sit front/back, there's lots of room underneath, removable trays & visors and it's really easy to open and close. I had the Graco infant carseat that snapped right into it to....Depending on what brand of infant seat you are planning on using might make a difference. I'm not sure if all brands are compatable with one another. Good luck!

Whatever you decide, be sure the bar your hold and steer from is thick, and padded. It might not seem like a big issue when you're shopping or initially thinking about it, but two children mean more weight and the more slender handles can cause your hands to cramp, and wrists to ache trying to manuver it properly.

The link above is the one I'm planning on getting. I has the stadium type seating but also has 7 different ways you can change it for your kids.

PS- Whatever you get- front to back is going to be easier to manuever than side by side. Graco Duo glider is probably awesome as well if you don't want or need the 7 configurations.

Letsgostrolling.com can help you out. They actually have a consultant. They ask you what you're looking for and recommend what suits your needs the best. I have the Phil & ted sport buggy. It's versatile. It can accommodate an infant and a toddler or 2 toddlers and can also be a single stroller It is easy to steer and has a narrow base. Like every stroller it has its cons. The back seat does not recline and you have to purchase pannier bags for cargo. Overall I love it. It does attract some attention.
They actually have the actual stroller at the Right start in Sommerset
